It is logical if you are trying to use it to justify your actions in modern times. It was perfectly moral to keep slaves in the times that the Christian Bible was purported to be written, but these days slavery is illegal and considered to be immoral in most nations, especially the U.S. and its allies, which have large Christian populations. Also, women have taken the intiative to become more independent in this modern time, and to treat them as the Bible often says to treat women would be considered discrimination or abuse.

I think that the simple, non-time-period-relevant portions of any religious documents are the best ones to follow, such as attempting to use something other than violence to solve problems, being considerate of others, not doing anything to others that you wouldn't want done to yourself (not just a Christian concept, which might surprise you).

Yes, very much so. I believe that the scriptures are very effective in relation to modern events. Its common sense. Just because the scriptures didn't say, "you must not murder" with the use of a firearm, you still have enough sense to know that murder, regardless of how its committed or with what, it is still wrong.

Not according to history rules. Each moment/time in history is different and each one has to be taken, sift, and judge accordingly.
