Just wanted to add a few things. Not such a big fan of sleeping pills. And I do A LOT (I have two toddlers, I work out, clean, cook and go and go!) during the day and at the end of the day, I am TIRED but not SLEEPY. I seem to not be able to shut my brain off at night time...

When you say you've tried it all, it hasn't been done.
When you lay in bed, is your mind in overdrive with you barely conscious of the activity? That's what you have to slow down and control.
Tell yourself that tomorrow is another day to solve the riddles of life and then gently blank out your mind of thought.
In the place of the thoughts, picture anything that pleases you and maintain that picture while you feel your body ease all the tension away.
It won't happen overnight but when your mind begins to enjoy that moment, you'll begin to ease into a restful sleep.

After such a busy full day, your mind is most probably still running overtime. When everyone is sound asleep. Take a nice long relaxing bath with your favorite oils and candles, Lay in the bath, listening to relaxing music, and just clear your mind. Have a nice cup off Rooibos (or other herbal) Tea or warm milk in bed. And close your Eyes and slumber away to the peaceful world of dreams.

Well, I hate sleeping pills too. I usually drink coffe or energy drink to sleep *I know I suppose to be awake but that thing make me sleepy*. Anyways, last time I couldn't sleep, I try to think how am I sleeping on the bed and close my eyes and think in the head and imagine & write down how you look in the head. And sooner or later.... u r sleeping...
Well another one to go:I usually do I'll be awake until I get really sleepy and then when I get really sleepy, I'll wait 10min, then look at the time and remember it. Then next day you wake up and look at the time and see how long you slept that day. So next day, you just sleep at the time you remember last day and so on.
::Hope something gonna work for you::

Speaking as a guy its always easier to sleep after sex, it is such a tension releiver, it puts you in touch with yourself, and can somtimes make you forget about whatever you are thinking about to keep you up all night, i have heard marijuana is good for that but the side effect is not being able to remember your dreams(short term memory blocker that weed is), i would try sex, and not the regular old 5 min with you rboyfriend or husband sex, go for the 15-20 min session , i have read this in my wifes girly magazines, lucky ,woman and others, good luck

There are some completely natural remedies you can use. You can find them at your local health food store like Whole Foods or Wild Oats. They are not sedatives or herbs, they are compounds naturally found in the body that can help you sleep.

Gamma-aminobutryric acid, or GABA, is available in tablets that you swallow or dissolve under your tongue. It is useful in helping you sleep and easing anxiety safely and naturally.

Melatonin is the "sleep chemical" that your body produces at night time. You can buy melatonin tablets that you can take 15-45 minutes before bedtime to help you sleep. Start with half the dose recommended by the instructions, and then increase slowly until you get the effects you want.

Lunesta and Ambien both work wonders for me. When I'm having insomnia problems, I take one a half-hour before bedtime. I'm out like a light the second my head's on the pillow. Eight hours later, my eyes pop open and I feel like a million bucks.

Don't make sleep aides a habit, but they can really help during incomnia jags.

Warm milk. Melatonin. Chamomile herbal tea. Tylenol PM. For something a little more serious & reacurring, you might need to see a physcian. Ambien is one. Rozerem is another. I can't think of the other one but the commercial is on all of the time.

Wear yourself out. Do arduous tasks that can tire you, then I'm sure that you'll want to sleep. Or, lay in bed. After a while, you should inevitably fall asleep. After all you are human.

Try getting a bottle of lavender oil and the smell of that helps. You can get it at health or nutrition stores for about 5$... good luck

I like to do this:

Imagine a pool that is being cleaned, being the pool your state of mind and all the clutter being taken out, until it is crystal clear.

When it is crystal clear imagine yourself floating on the pool

Bye bye insomnia
