I wonder how many churches would close if Jesus came back today. It doesn't surprise me in regards to the gay issue and churches seeing a decline. I Samuel 2:30 is pretty clear: "God honors those who honor Him."
This might be a hot topic for today, but an easy and clear reading of Scripture settles the matter. The church of Corinth had to deal with some sexual issues, and Paul was very direct. Roman 1:26-27 closes the issue completely.
Besides, isn't the church us, not our buildings. It's sad to think God has to close a church, but when its doctrine stinks it should close. We need to reach out to the homosexuals, but not ordain them into ministry.
Grace and Peace to All.

This is a major challenge for most Christian religions today.
In order to keep the members a religion must change with the tide. The world's society is rapidly changing faster then ever before and they cannot stand on old thinking. But with intelligent management they can do so without changing their dogma.

I attend a "GLBT" friendly church. Frankly, even though I'm straight, I didn't go to church for a long time when I thought they all discarded Gays, Lesbians and transgendered people. If God doesn't hate them, why should a church?
If you think these churches are accepting GLBTs because they don't have enough members, I don't really have enough time here to try to set you straight.
Just keep praying and trying to find God. I'm praying for you!

I don't belong to any church, and I'm glad their membership is down. The church has always been divided in arbitrary ways, and has long condoned bigotry and intolerance.
There is a real reason their membership is shrinking. We're finally starting to get over our belief in superstitious nonsense.

All in all, if they stuck to the Bible, they wouldn't be having any difficulties. In other words, if what they taught was truly from God, not only would they NOT be having money troubles, there would be no question about homosexuality period. Obviously, God is NOT blessing the insanity in which they are involved.

Presbyterians should continue to resist and deny practicing gays a right to become members. All Methodist should become Presbyterians.
