I used to be a cutter for many years. I've had depression/anxiety/panic disorder/bipolar 2? since age 12 (11 years ago). I am on medication that has reduced suicidal urges and controlled my symptoms to some extent. My doctor says I don't need any medication changes.
But lately, I've been having outbursts of rage. I generally don't take it out on anybody. I just have to scream and punch my pillows. Sometimes I run out of the house, down the street, and curl up in the grass, hidden from the world. I often punch the walls, cabinets, doors, etc. At times like this, my family can't say anything to help.
I usually take a Klonopin, and eventually it starts to help me calm down. About a half hour after it begins, it's over. And I feel normal again. Any advice on how to stop this from getting out of control? My psychiatrist says I have all of the right meds and dosages. What else can I do?

Try talking to someone or write things down when you do it. Let the anger out on paper. I hope you get to feeling better.

It is a serious problem (i am not a doctor, just a normal person). My advice may seem like spam, but isn't.
Try to do some sports, sports can can mentally and physically put you in challenge. I will not suggest violent sports , even some person may think that you're burst of rage can find the answer in kicking some as***.
If this is really something that you cannot control.... i don't know.
BUT if you have the control over this , i will suggest you skydiving, divings. Skydiving is such a wonderfull thing, (divings i want to do) you fell free, and it's give you an enormous feeling of power, you're improving yourself, you're a better person after. Of course, the training for this include some physicall training (that's a good thing!).
You're Young, You can do whatever you want. Me, for example, i take the pills only when i'm dying...:) I saw many young peoples taking too much pills. What for? For an hour an a half?...
Do sports, take you're pills, for now, eat healthy. And after, you won't feel the need for pills anymore.
Sounds commercial, but .. just do it! It's simple!

Depressive bouts can often cause anger outbursts and you should see that the freedoms you have he currently does not have and the overall aspect of life not working the way he wants. Depression does have high and lows and can be quick or drawn out but the reality is that the outbursts are worth investigating and checking to see how frequent the emotional response is and what is the nature of the response i.e anger, sadness, crying, elation, joy, happy etc. this will then help you to identify the emotional response and if it is depression. Good Luck!

Keeping a journal / diary of how you feel about everything is a suprisingly good way of getting overwhelming emotions out of your system. You need to do it regularly, like for example, when you get in to bed, write about the things that happened during the day and how you feel about them. No one else has to see what you've written and so you can say what you like, get it all out. It can be theraputic to then burn the journal / diary when you feel you've worked through the issues but thats personal preference, you may prefer to store it away somewhere.
There are herbal remedies that can make you feel calmer, look into kava kava (also spelt cava cava) or st johns wort which is used to treat depression etc, but check with your gp as some things shouldn't be taken together with medical drugs.

No offense to your medical provider, but Klonopin is not what you need; people on that med does act out more, when they are bi-polar..Ask your doctor about the med: ABILIFY, it helps contain anger outbursts much better. It won't hurt to ask, it may help you if they will switch you, also ask about Remeron as a med to help with the others you already take..Do so A.S.A.P. Good Luck...

physical activity, if you're able, will do wonders... i go to the batting cage or ride my bike... or do something that demands focus, although sometimes that makes me even more angry... i recently had my hand xrayed because it was so swollen after my attack on the kitchen wall, it is so hard when you're like that to focus on anything else, i understand that... i've made a list of people and programmed them into my cellphone with one touch calling that i can phone and just let them listen to me scream (i fortunately have fabulous friends) or they talk while i listen or zone, but at least it kills time so that i can settle down before i hurt myself, the house or whatever.

make a list of the times this happens. maybe you can correlate it with foods you've eaten or incidences that happen. it could be you just need to take your meds at a different time or something is setting you off. once you know, you can cut it off at the pass. good luck

You can try a sport to release your anger say tennis? Cycling, running. Anything to release your anger without hurting anyone including yourself.
