Depends on brand. We use Parent's Choice formula from Walmart. A 25.7oz can costs just under $14 and lasts about a week. So, if someone formula fed for 12 months (and the majority of women breast feed for at least some period of time) that would work out to $728 per year. A name brand like Enfamil costs about twice as much.

Baby food: most babies start baby food at 6 months. A 2-pack of size 1 containers is $.88 at Walmart and that's about a days worth. Size two and three containers cost more, plus there's rice cereal, oatmeal and other snacks and foods as the baby gets older. But a rough estimate is about $200-$300 for those 6 months. I make my own baby food, and the cost is about 1/3 of what it costs to buy the Gerber.

I bought the cases of Enfamil which included 6 big cans of powered formula. It cost $120 and lasted about a month and a half. As for baby food, I cant even remeber. It was something like three to four containers depending on the stages, plus all the snacks and baby juice. I would estimate 40 to 50 a week .

Breastmilk is free the entire first year. We delay all solids the first year. *no baby cereal, juice, oatmeal*

Free for the first year.

At one year the baby starts eating our food that we eat, seasoning and all. So the cost is about 50 cents per meal. Times the 3 meals a day and 365 days that's 547.5$ for the second and third years. It costs slightly more as they eat more.

Or if you go the formula route, its about 100$ a month for infant formula for the first year. 1200$ total

For the second and third years if you do the gerber prepackaged foods they cost about 2-3$ times 3 meals a day. 2190$-3285$ per year.

A big can of formula is $22.00. A box of cereal is $3.00. If you buy 3 can of formula @ $22.00 a can the cost will be $66.00. The small cans of formula is $12.50. You are looking at maybe over $2,000 a year in formula purchasing.
