You should contact the airport you are leaving from to confim their security recruiements. It would be a shame to accept an answer from somone on this post to get there and find out it may not be correct. You could also call the airline.

I JUST went through this. I'm 15 too, and I seriously stressed out over it, thinking I couldn't go on my trip.
(my ID would have arrived too late if I had to get one)

Ok, Call you airline just to be sure, but 90% chance, the website is correct (see links).

"My child is younger than 18 years old and is traveling alone. Is identification required?Children who are younger than 18 years old and traveling within the United States are not required to bring identification with them. However, if your child is traveling internationally and is younger than 18, please call United Reservations at 1-800-UNITED1 (864-8331) and ask for documentation information for the country or countries he or she will visit."

If whoever you are going with has an ID than you are set. I know that you're flying alone, but as long as the person that is taking you to security has ID, your school ID is absolutely ok. Even if you are making a connection, switching airlines, and all of that. The person getting you from San AN will have to have ID too.

Dont sweat it, (Really, I JUST went through this-like 2 days ago)

Your ID is FINE!!!!!

A school ID will do. I flew to Alaska from San Francisco when i was in high school and I was able to get through security using my school ID (security was pretty tight during that time cuz it was the summer after Sept. 11) It was an United Airline flight too. You wont need to bring your birth certificate.

Have a safe trip. :-)

Government issued I.D. is sufficient.
