they do usethere imagination but not any where near as much as you and i did when there was notmuch more then tv and radio. my oldest has a game boy but i limit her to 1hour aday and not all at once and i have the tv on for and hour in the the morning and the cbeebies bed time hour and occasionally in the afternoon after school/nursery but thats it.
i make sure that the kids are using there imagination when ever possibleand they do like i take them to soft play and the park and they have thse fantastic games and they are all these great characters it quite amusing to watch lol. but there best game is mums and dads and the amount of ideas they come up with is amazing

I think it depends on thechild--some educational materials and programs can actually stimulate a child's imagination too--but when used in moderation--I think the parents attitudes matter a lot--if a child is encouraged to express themselves creatively and imaginatively, then they will do so--while watching tv, playing games, etc...If imagination, etc. is frowned on--if parents want their kids to be in "the real world"--and I know some people like this--then kids will be less likely to develop their imagination--some parents are afraid their kids are telling lies--so they force them to stick to the facts--but there is a fine line between lying and imagining...Again--I think all kids would use thier imagination more if they were in the right environment

All kids - No!
Too many other stimuli: TV, computer, loads of toys, etc. Too much pushing for them to learn academic stuff too early.
It appears, some people just don't take the time to be with kids and develop it.
It is wonderful you have a child that can take herself into the wonderful world of make believe!!!

I think you're right - there is a lot out there for kids to use that do the thinking for them - TV, video games, hi-tech toys, etc. But I think they all have the potential to use their wild imaginations, if they have the time and opportunity. It sounds like your daughter has that opportunity. I remember now, playing doctor and house with our dogs when I was a kid too. :) Thanks for the memory.

moderation is the key Tv is okay its not the plague like some parents think I like a happpy medium my kids love cartoons but if I turn them off they will entertain themselves , my Son is older and is more dependent on cartoons and video games to entertain him (when there are no other kids to play with) but there is a happy medium its just hard to find

my son has a wonderful imagination, sometimes supplanted with things form tv, sometimes book, soemtimes it all invented! I'm proud of his imagintion, especally since he's autistic, and it can be harder for kids like him to think outside the box, KWIM
