Nothing unusual. Your physical health will have improved considerably but the depression is mental. The nicotine has left your body completely by now,and the cravings you get are mainly of a custom and habit nature. What you need is something to replace the act of lighting a cigarette at certain times. Some eat sweets, others chew gum,the danger is overeating and putting on too much weight. The main thing is to try to keep occupied and not get bored. That is the danger time.Keep your hands occupied, The fact that you are on here on Q/A is good.Answer lots of questions, keep your hands and your mind occupied and the depression and longing for cigarettes will pass. It will,I promise you. I gave up in January.I have had good days, bad days but it gets easier as time passes.I think the mental side of giving up takes much longer to get over than the physical side.Stick with it.You have done the hardest part.

I wish I had 39days of not smoking. I think you are doing great. Maybe you have always been depressed. When felling so you just had a smoke. I dont think you should go back to smoking but you should ask a doctor about the depression. It is a very real thing. It may not have anything to do with smoking at all.

I gave up smoking 4 months ago with the help of nicotine gum. These help with the cravings. You start with 4mg for six weeks then down to 2mg for the next 6 weeks.
If you are struggling abit then i suggest buy some of these or see your doctor as you can get them free on the NHS (England) on a no smoking programme.
But hang in there cuz you are doing well.
Good luck....

The nicotine and other things in the cigarettes created a 'high' for your body that you enjoyed. This feeling was a desirable thing. Now with going without the chemicals for that long, your body still wants that high but it doesn't get it. So you are feeling down because your body isn't getting this feeling regularly. But keep on going, try using more exercise to let your body to get used to another feeling.

If you're still hanging around people who smoke and breathing in the smoke in the air from their cigarettes, then you haven't stopped smoking and that could be a factor. If you aren't, then maybe you are being active enough and should start exercises at the very least.

Bad news:
You will want to smoke on and off for the rest of your life.
Good news:
It will GRADUALLY get easier. The physical addiction is now
broken, but your brain still says "Gee, I remember when I felt good
with a cigarette in hand..." That feeling gets less and less over time
but it never disappears.
Best news:
All other things being equal, you have already taken an immense
leap in decreasing the likelihood of dieing of all of these different
diseases.
We're all going to die - but you will probably live longer and healthier.

Its withdrawel symptoms hon! :( I know they really suck and its hard to get through, but no matter what you do, dont give in because all that will do is take you back to square one. And then you'll just have to keep going through this all over again. Your body is used to having nicotine and since you havent had it lately it is probably sensing that something is different and unsual. Dont worry, just hang in there. You should make it through this soon enough. Just keep thinking strong and dont even consider giving back in! You can do this!
Take care! :)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Have you got or tried this meter???
It runs on your screen and tells you how much money you have saved and days quit and how many cigarettes you have not smoked. It is a good incentive item and all you do is put in your quit day and how much you smoked and paid for
smokes.

i wouldn't know anything about this but i've heard of it happening. it's just like with anything else that used to be addicting. like music. what if suddenly i had this bezare idea to suddenly stop listening to it?? I'D DIE OF SHAME. but anyways, it's like i'd be really really really depressed cause of that, but i don't think i'd get any better than that....but for smoking you should get better... if not then mabey do smoking againg sense you seem to think that you can't live without it... or go see a thearapist. other than that i have no idea what's wrong with you. mabey you need a new hobby or something. or you need something to live for.
:)
