I started with soups and stews. I find that these are really easy and hard to mess up. I cube chicken, beef or pork and season it with a little salt and pepper, 1/2 tsp each. Then you can roll it in a small amount of flour (called dredging), shake off the excess. Put a couple of tablespoon of oil in a larger pan, when it heats up, place the meat in the pan and brown all the sides. Remove the meat to a dish and set aside. Add a tbsp more of oil and saute a medium onion, chopped, a clove of chopped garlic (if you like it) and a couple of ribs of celery, chopped. Saute until they soften, add a couple of cans of broth (chicken, beef or vegetable) or water, add the meat back in. If you want potatoes add them at this point, or carrots. When the meat is tender you can add noodles, pasta or rice and some mixed frozen vegetable that you like. It's all up to what you like, really. There are some good websites for beginners. Just relax and have fun, if you are too uptight about cooking then it becomes a chore instead of a pleasure. Good Luck.

There are so many places to start but the easiest is to find recipes for foods you like and practice. Anyone can give you recipes but only you can give you experience. Try a web site like allrecipes.com or recipezaar.com and search for foods you enjoy or an ingredient you have on hand. There are many simple healthy recipes but without a better knowledge of your tastes I wouldn't dare to try. Good Luck and remember to keep your knives sharp and your kitchen clean!

I would recommend the Food Network on TV or on the weekends PBS has some really good cooking shows. Here is the site too if you just want to go on line. Also i would recommend to go to a good book store and go to the cooking section and get a beginners cook book. Ask a sales clerk if you are not sure.

I cook the same way I fry eggs. I heat the pan, put a little bit of vegetable and add whatever I want to cook and sprinkle salt, pepper. If I want more flavour, I might add ketchup. One time I added orange juice and corn syrup. It was pretty tasty.
