You should go to some kind of orientation at your college during the summer before you start. This will prepare you for what to expect.

But, it is a good idea to try to find all of your classrooms before the first day, so that you don't get lost. And give yourself a lot of extra time so that you aren't late to class. Your professor will give you a syllabus, which outlines what is expected of you in the class. This may be followed by a lecture, so bring a notebook and pen/pencil just in case. You won't need to bring your textbook, unless it is a literature class. In fact, you should wait to buy textbooks until after the first class, because sometimes professors will tell you that the book is optional.
