I am an atheist. I do not believe that all atheists are smart and educated and all christians are dumb and uneducated. I do not generalize. I know many smart christians, and less educated atheists. I look at people individually, I read their answers, and I find that education and smarts are usually independent of religious belief/disbelief.

Since I am right between what you asked I'll have to say that as an Atheist I know not all are smart and educated, but intelligence prevails.
On the other hand as a Christian I have to say that I do not believe everything told by other Christians, but no, we are not all dumb and uneducated.

As a Christian, I am wary of my fellow Christians who do not ask hard questions of God. I believe we CAN have faith the size of a mustard seed, but I feel that relying on that only can tend to 'dumb down' what they believe in the face of a non-believing world. We have to pursue knowledge so that we are prepared to defend our faith.
so on to your question. I believe that someone who is academically educated is not necessarily intelligent. I also believe that someone without an academic background can easily be extremely intelligent. All of us fall into some form of these parameters. Most of the questions on here tend to bait and switch. Debate isn't always intelligent, and logic isn't always right.... it's just that simple (or is it??) hahaha
so
1) I hope that the Atheists don't believe that - for their sakes and ours
and
2) I don't always think that an answer from the Christian perspective is 'right', OR that Atheists are automatically wrong - they have good points. We need to take heed.
blessings Beverly - very good question

Certainly not all. There is, at most, a broad tendency for atheists to be more educated/intelligent than average. But Christians make up the vast majority of the US, for example, so a lot of the smart people and a lot of the dumb people are Christians.

As a Christian, I think the only infallible true answers are to be found in The Bible. And Christians & Atheists are imperfect, flawed humans. We ALL make mistakes, so just because a person is a Christian does not automatically mean they are ALWAYS right nor does it mean that EVERY answer an Atheist gives is wrong. But I believe that a person's beliefs DO effect their perspective and therefore those beliefs DO effect their answers.

No sorry, I don't think that.
I've seen too many atheists that are bad representatives of my beliefs. Sometimes I wish I had the Christian cop out, if only I could simply say "they are not real atheists". But I'm not that silly.
On average, and my Christian girlfriend agrees with me on this, the atheists in this section seem a lot more educated than the Christians. Of course there are exceptions.

Atheists have to be smart, because they rely on science to try and prove God's nonexistence.
However, as a Christian, I do not believe that other Christians are always right... and I'll use myself as an example. I was always "intellectually" a Christian (meaning I knew God was alive and that He existed, but i never gave Him a second thought) yet was struggling with an addiction to pornography and sin - given the chance, I would have fornicated in a heartbeat.
Even in the months after I was saved, I was still the same way (though not quite as rampant as I had been before). I still struggled with my smut addiction - it was like a drug to me. 3 or 4 months after my encounter with God, I realized what was becoming of me, and I gave it up.
And - another example - Catholic priests and altar boys. (Need I go on?)
So there you have it. Not all actions by every Christian are right just because they claim Christ.

I am an aethiest and quite happy to be, mainly cos there's hardly anythin unanswered nd i don't have to wonder why one person (god) has done somethin to me or other people, which tbh, i see as a complete load of cow's b0llucks, which i know is impossible which is my point.
As for the views i give christians and other religious followers, except maybe rastafarian because i don't know much about them, is that they are quite sheepish and are easily manipulated. This is because, in my quite harsh opinion, that if they believe that visiting a building in their local area and taught a theory that was taught to them by some1 and so on, then they must have a pretty sh!t life, or like i said, are easy manipulated and are sheep.
Also, when say a person is in court accused of murder, or some other crime, people who would claim themselves christian, are the first to condemn that person. Yet, when in church, and told about god being all loving etc etc. Then they get a disease or something, they are willing to say that its not god's fault yet they believe he controls everything one earth but not our free will (which i see as just covering their backs tbh).
Something else i would like to note is how many people claim to be christian. It's like oh, i'm catholic or i'm protestant. But in reality, especially in england, the christian population is like 3million (if that).

No I don't. Every large group of people has those who are smart and those who are stupid, good people and bad people, bigotted and open minded etc... I really wish some people would realize that it's very possible for atheists to be good people. Not believing in god does not mean lack of morals. Also it would be nice if some atheists here woud realize that not all christians are bible beaters trying desperately to convert you to their religion. They aren't
I'm an atheist and the whole of my mom's side of the family is atheist. I've have never heard one word about it my whole life. They accept me as I am. And I accept them. It is quite possibe to not be obnoxious about your religion, or lack thereof.

I am a Christian and I find myself believing more and more that people of my faith are ignorant and that Atheists are brilliant. There are variations within each group, but my major backing for this is that I feel that most people of my faith mindlessly quote the Bible and are not capable of independent thought. I find that Atheists can think for themselves quite freely. I don't know if this will really answer your question, but I sincerely hope it does.
