If God is all around us and is everywhere, then God must be in the good, as well as the bad and the ugly events all around us. God is in all people, whether they are good citizens or criminals.
Also God would also be in hell as well. How could God be everywhere if God isn't here. If you say God chooses not to be, then it doesn't matter because it contradicts the ability for God to be everywhere. By definition, if God isn't in hell God isn't an omniscient and all powerful being.
Checkmate!!! Goooaaaaaallllllllllll!!!! Rejected!!! Case closed. sell the house I'm moving to the Bahamas. Yeeeehaawwwww!!!!

I hear you say God chooses not to be evil, yet since he is the creator he also created evil. Who else created it? Also since he created everything and is in everything (metaphorically speaking) he must be evil.

Kayla, you need to read more carefully dear. I never said God isn't omnipresent or omniscient. That's not the question here. The question is if God is everywhere then he is part of the good as well as the evil. That would mean God is good as well as evil. How can you say God is all good, and yet not evil as well?

V_Dezzed, my question is not to disprove a god. I think you are missing the point of the question. The question merely points to the fact that God can't be all powerful if he can't be everywhere, unless you tell me he can be everywhere and in everything created including evil.

spitchus, if you say God created sin then does that mean he sinned. Or if created evil does that mean he can't be evil. If God could be everywhere and everything, why can't he be evil as well?

asso, I ask because I want clarification. I never said I knew the answer. It is a fool who says he knows everything and a wise person who says he knows nothing, or something like that.

No. God is nowhere. It's all just superstition.
Religions are so easy to poke holes into. Unfortunately, logic and reason don't work on the religious. They're emotionally attached to their beliefs. Faith is wishful thinking.

Oh come now; think it through. You're getting lazy on me.
I believe God is everywhere; I also don't believe in hell as a physical place (didn't most people lose that idea at about the third grade???), but as a state of mind. If you're still talking about the measly three dimensions WE live in, you have an AWFULLY limited concept of God; time to expand the consciousness, my friend.
As to being in all places - IF I believed in hell as a place - the ABILITY to be in a place and the choice to be there are two different things. I could go to Los Angeles if I wanted to, but I don't choose to go - that doesn't mean I CAN'T. (And LA in the summer isn't far from hell, either, at least in terms of the heat...)
God, in my opinion, is not only omnipresent, but omniscient, and omnipotent; he can do, be, and know anything and anywhere. God is very definitely in all people, good and bad; for that matter, if God chose to do so, do you not think that God could choose to do bad things? Certainly God has the power (if by definition God is omnipotent). What God CAN do, and what he CHOOSES to do, are two different things. If you accept the idea that we are created in God's image (not physically, since God has no physical form), then God must by definition be able to do evil - but God never chooses to do evil, and therein lies the difference.
And no, I'm not a Christian (bleah... sorry... that's a theology I just CANNOT stomach); I'm Jewish. We believe that human beings ARE created in the image of God, but it has nothing to do with anything physical. We believe in the "yetzer tov" and the "yetzer hara" - the "good impulse" and the "evil impulse" - and both came from God. Without them, we would not have free will!
As for the Bahamas - God is there too; I wouldn't sell the house just yet, though, unless you want to go live off coconuts for the rest of your life; God may provide for the foxes, but he expects the rest of us to WORK for a living. ;-)

Nope I dont believe God is everywhere... But I do believe God is moving and growing so that someday God may be in places we dont consider to even exist yet. I see God as the universe itself and I see the universe someday expanding so far that to journey from its center to an edge would take almost forever or at least longer in years then all humans have atoms. I dont know if what I believe is true for sure but its what I believe and hope for and I have reasons for thinking this way.
If I have learned one thing in this world its the fact that the case is never closed. So while your living in the bahamas the world will still be moving on with or without you :)

God does not contradict himself. He cannot leave his heavenly abode as that would make him less than Almighty. He himself tells us in the bible verse in 1 Kings 8:27: "But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!" Not that he doesn't see from his vantage point in the heavens: "For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him."-1 Chronicles 16:9.
God is omniscient and omnipotent but not omnipresent. If he were omnipresent that would contradict his position.

yes he is everywhere including sin..... he created sin did he not? did god not say
“I am Jehovah, and there is none else; besides me there is no God. I will gird you, though you have not known me; that they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none besides me: I am Jehovah, and there is none else. I form the light, and create darkness; I make peace, and create evil. I am Jehovah, who does all these things” (Isa. 45:5-7).
also the bible says god walked with satan. read job........ he is indeed everywhere
good question, if you are the creator of something ,then one would assume you are indeed part of it...The word translated evil is the Hebrew word [ra'], meaning something that is "not good." It is from a root word meaning to be spoiled, and by implication something that is not good. i.e., bad. It does not mean evil in the sense that we might think of the word today, but more correctly understood as bad or anything that is "not good" to us. For example, if a child receives a spanking, or we go through some adversity or anything which we deem not good for us, it is [ra'] or evil. e.g.: ...... he created adam and eve they ate from the tree of life, they were spoiled he created , them walked with them , and let them make the choice....He does not sin, but He does create other bad or evil things. God creates hell, and that is a bad (evil) thing for people, but it is not sin, and it is perfectly consistent with God's Word to create it. God withdraws light, and thus creates darkness, but this is not sin. God takes away peace, and thus creates war, but this is not God sinning. God removes His hand of restraint from man's heart and it is hardened, but this is not God forcing him to sin. For God is "not obligated" to maintain peace, hold back war, or keep man's heart softened. And when we look at the very context of Isaiah chapter 45, it becomes clear that this is what God is saying.
"I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil:"

WRONG--An omniscient being can choose to not be in all places--check out philosophy--If by defining the character of God--he is all good and allows evil to exist for the cause of more good to be manifest--then by his definition and that of philosophy the Good out weighs the bad in existence thus God can choose by his nature to refrain from things that would destroy the ultimate Good. Leaving the knowledge of God to be pure and filled with goodness. Read Revelation and you will find out what God thinks of Hell and the ultimate destination of evil.
I think you have a stalemate on this question
Hope you did not sign the papers.

My dear, God is everywhere! Every time someone does good or bad He/She is up there watching!
Unlike Animals, God gave us 6 sense to choose for ourselves and make the right decisions. If you want God to do everything for you, God needn't have created us. Coz He/She was going to make decisions for us and rule our lives!
How many good or bad decisions we make will affect us One day when it is time to leave that body God put us in and go meet Him.
You need lots of Faith in God and Yourself to pick yourself up, every time you trip.
That is One time you have God's help.....in that Faith that makes you stronger and helps you overcome difficulties!
At the 1st sign of trouble, if you always start denouncing God, One day soon, God isn't going to give you that helping hand anymore coz the Bad in you is more then the good... so God can see how well you cope on your own.
We were created with 6sense and a balance of good and evil within us. If not, we would all be Angels!! How evil you want to be has nothing to do with GOD. He just wants to know if you can live a balanced life with what he gave you!
Who said Life was Fair.......its all rocky roads an too many mountain slopes......uphill and downhill.

Of course God is in hell, the face of a suffering child brings to mind the need for compassion. If God was a loving God, wouldn't you think he'd be in the place that needed him the most, hell? Rather than just chilling up in heaven?
Sorry, don't sell the house just yet.

Through the Holy Spirit, God is near every one of us. But our rebellious sin has separated us from the love of God. So there is a disconnection, until our sins are atoned for. And we receive Grace of Restoration with God.
So, there is a reality of our sin separating us from God. God has been in hell. It is written that God is every where, where ever we may go. Wether it is an out of body experience also. But hell is separation from God. So, the opposite of Gods love, acceptance, joy, peace is in hell.

let the Bible answer your question. for those who are really christians..
(Hebrews 9:24) . . .For Christ entered, not into a holy place made with hands, which is a copy of the reality, but into heaven itself, now to appear before the person of God for us. . .
(Daniel 7:9-10) 9Â “I kept on beholding until there were thrones placed and the Ancient of Days sat down. His clothing was white just like snow, and the hair of his head was like clean wool. His throne was flames of fire; its wheels were a burning fire. 10Â There was a stream of fire flowing and going out from before him. There were a thousand thousands that kept ministering to him, and ten thousand times ten thousand that kept standing right before him. The Court took its seat, and there were books that were opened.
