Sadly, I would go back to myspace and rub it in the faces of all of those who argued with me about global warming! The link I'm listing is a sworn statement of 17,000 scientist disagreeing with "Global Warming" as being man made problem.

I remember the doomsday scenario of global cooling as well. It amounted to a handful of press reports and lasted for a few days, it wasn't even based on what the scientists at the time were studying or saying - that's the media for you, love to sensationalise things. And by the way, it was the 70's not the 80's.
I hardly think the scientists (of which I'm one) will decide global warming isn't happening. After all, it's based on over 100 years of research and knowledge and is a well understood and documented reality. There's about as much chance they'll decide the Earth isn't spherical but flat instead.
Sorry not to give you the answer you wanted but face it - facts are facts.

I would probably believe them. Assuming of course they actually had enough evidence to support that claim. Scientists don't have a tendency to make extraordinary claims like that without any evidence to back them up. You can't just =say= we're going into an glacial, you have to support that idea with observation and experimentation.
And I have to say, you are apparently one of the few people who remember any ice age scare in 80's. Especially since most other pseudo-skeptics (the only people who have any recollection whatsoever of being scared by it at all- I guess some of you guys just believe stuff without researching it) usually say it happened in the 70's. Personally, I would hardly call a couple articles in National Geographic and Newsweek -neither of which are peer reviewed publications, by the way- a 'doomsday scenario'. Perhaps it is not the GW proponents who haven't researched the issues thoroughly, it's you.

What a lot of scientists have decided is that global warming will eventually lead to the ice caps melting, and that that will actually cause problems with ocean currents in the Atlantic by altering the ocean's salinity, and cause the global temperature to drop over the course of several years, leading to something close to an ice age. It's kind of like 'The Day after Tomorrow' only slower, and without the hurricane thing.

A major flaw in your question is that scientists can't just "decide" that GW isn't happening. They know it's happening because the temperature increase has been measured, and it's going to keep increasing.
As for global cooling in the 80s (actually it was in the 70s), as others have pointed out, that was a short-term cooling which the scientific community did not predict would lead to another ice age, unlike the global warming consensus. The cooling was due to particulates in the atmosphere from volcanic eruptions and human aerosol emissions absorbing sunlight and creating global dimming which creates global cooling.

Wake up, and snap back to reality. The Ice Age / doomsday scenarios 1) were only brought up by a few scientists, and were never generally accepted by the scientific community 2)Were based on a few incomplete sets of data....The concept of global warming was already being discussed back then and was still more accepted even then, and now a majority of the scientific community agrees with it. It is strongly supported by reserch in multiple fields.
When our children look at us 20 years from now and ask why we didn't take global warming seriously... feel free to tell them not only did you not believe, but that you did not care enough about your children and their future to act on the "just in case"

I would not be a bit surprised for one thing. As for what I would do, it's quite simple, nothing. I already do many things that I think are good for the enviroment as well as my life. These include, shutting lights off when not needed, recycling as much as possible, saving gas by walking or riding bike when practical, keep the heat down to 65 in the winter and only use A/C on the really steamy summer nights, and other little things. I think that is being pretty responsible and I don't need a reason like global warming, or cooling for that matter, to live like this. It's simply the way I was brought up and generally, aside from being "eco-friendly", it saves me money.

you obviously havent researched global warming at all have you? Global warming will lead to an ice age. Long story short, if enough fresh water desalinates the ocean it could interrupt the gulf stream (the water patterns which affect the worlds climate) If it stops, the worlds temperatures will drop and lead to an ice age. So global warming is directly linked to a potential ice age.

look .... you are already in the present ice age ...... an ice age is a period of time when the poles of the earth are covered with ice sheets ... which they are presently and in any case the earth has to get hotter again ( whether we do something bout it or not ) coz the ice age is on the verge of getting over .... so as your question goes , i will sit back and enjoy the scenario watever it may be!!!

Maybe i would try to burn fossil fuels LOL
But, according to scientists, we live in the opposite scenario: Global Warming.
(Please, now don t surf the net for finding one or two scientists that tell that we are starting an ice age, IPCC are the 2500 most reputed scentists over the world, working without any interest, reaching conclusions by consensus with conservative statements, hired by one institution that doesnt look for our votes, etc.)
