I've been on a diet and I've been doing pretty well. My downfall seems to be snacking (especially in the evenings) and portion size at meals. Does anyone have any tips for me? I would especially love to hear from people who have lost weight themselves.

congratulations! dieting can be hard but there are some things which will make it easier.i lost a lot of weight over a period of about 8 months.first drink more water- just plain water not flavored between meals or half an hour before meals.to control portions use a smaller plate you will simply think there is more food on the plate because its smaller.learn what a portion size is its probaly much less than you imagine.cut down on sodas, sugars, fried greasy meals and fast food.eat much more fruits and vegetables fresh is better.you should have a couple of small snacks each day.fruit is better but a small piece of pie or cake once in awhile wont kill you, just skip the cool whip or ice cream.have ice cream sometime but dont over do it.i had ice cream everyday and fed my love of chocolate also by having 1 fudgesicile you dont have to pig out! exercise it will help you in many ways and good luck.

Useful tips i used to practice regularly.
1) Drink a large volume of water before every meal.
2) low carb snacks like pop-corn etc you can enjoy.
3) have the habit of eating slowly. munch well before swallowing your food.
4) carrot juice, raw vegetables you can use it as your evening snacks and drinks.

It happened to me. I started to drink water and make me feel full in my stomach. If you don't like to drink plain water, make a lemonade it really helps.
