i'm going to the store and i'm going to buy coffee but it's my first time buying it and i don't know which brand is the best kind. can you help?

The best Kind of coffee depends on your tastes, the climate, and conditions in which the beans are dried also change the flavor and aroma.
Jamaican blue mountain is always top of the list among most people I know. (it is expensive - but wonderfully mellow, and flavorful)
Colombian coffee is rich, and personally drink Cafe bustello for a name brand (and have for 15 years).

It's a matter of taste. Starbucks is an example of coffee beans that are slightly over roasted, Starbucks calls it "city roast", where they roast the beans until the oils in the beans start to come out. Starbucks coffees tend have a stronger almost burned flavor. Personally I like Starbucks coffee.
Other coffee's, Green Mountain for example, don't roast their beans to the extent that Starbucks does. Their coffee tends to be milder.
There are also two principle types of beans, Robusto and Arabica. Robusto is a larger less expensive bean, and the ones typically used for canned coffee's i.e. Folgers. Arabica is a smaller bean more expensive and the one used by the specialty coffee roasters like Starbucks.
The other thing to be wary of is ground coffee. Once ground, the coffee beans lose their flavor and develop a stale taste quickly - like within an hour or so.
Granted if your just getting started with coffee, you probably don't want to invest in all the tools yet. I'd recommend going to a speciality coffee shop, like a Starbucks or gourmet kitchen shop and get a 1/2 pound of something ground.
If you want to make a good cup at home, you should buy whole bean coffee and grind immediately before brewing.

If you want to go all out fo the ultimate tastiest coffee, go fo the French pressed. You have to buy a French presser machine, I have seen it at like William and Sonoma for under $100. IT is by far the best coffee I have ever tasted in my life!!!! BELIEVE ME!!!!!

You can buy coffee to make at home from Dunkin Donuts, and at the grocery store they sell Green Mountain Coffee that is great. (depending on where you live).

McDonalds makes a great cup of coffee. And Red is right about Starbucks

Decaf, definitely. It has no caffine, which can be bad for you. It tastes out of this world! A nice, hot cup of decaf coffee gets me awake and ready to go every morning!

anything but instant coffee
different people liked different kinds of coffee but i think that coffee should be consumed black (with or wihout sugar) so that you actually taste the coffee itself and not the cream. using brown sugar also helps maintain the "natural" taste of coffee

Starbucks sells coffee in grocery stores and their coffee is really good.

i enjoy a good cup of coffee. I have been using eight oclock coffee for a while.. It was consumerreports best pick for flavor. It is my choice also..

I like folgers in my cup. I get the regular blend nothing special. Maxwell house tastes bitter to me and starbucks is just not my thing.
