We don't need to "maintain" our non-belief. The thing that's good about atheism, is you're actually free. You are just willing to accept non-belief. It's not like you can control what you believe. You either believe or you don't. If, sometimes, an atheist questions their non-belief, then they're free to do that. They're not locked into a position where they can't question, or wonder, or change their minds without fear of some horrific "divine" vengeance. When I was first becoming atheist, I went back and forth between belief and non-belief for a long time. Finally, I was able to accept that the belief was no longer there.
Most atheists, once they become atheists, don't go back, because belief in an invisible super-being just becomes ridiculous to you. (I'm not saying that for the purpose of insulting anyone, I'm just being honest about our feelings.) It does happen sometimes, but it's pretty rare.

There is nothing to maintain. Atheists live in the reality-based world - there is no empirical evidence for God - non-belief is the only objective and rational conclusion.

How do you maintain a non-belief in dragons, mermaids and unicorns?

If something happens to provide actual evidence that any god exists, then atheists will change their beliefs.

BTW, Gaps in scientific knowledge is not proof of a god.

Since all aspects of reality are in unison with my non belief, it's pretty easy to maintain it.

Ignorance and stupidy; none of them know enough about "religion' to even know the difference between a fundamentalist and a Catholic, what to speak of knowing anything of other religions; they're the same beer-swillers who wear "religion sucks' t-shirts. Try reading catherine's posting,or any of the others.

If I tell you that the room is full of invisible, insensible leprechauns, and you doubt it, will it be difficult for you to maintain your disbelief in my statement?

Easily.Until even the tiniest shred of evidence appears that suggests the existence of a god,I have no problem with my current position

The same way you keep your beliefs.

You talk every day to a non-existing being.

I look every day at the non-existing evidence for that same non-existing being.

See? We both almost do the same thing.
