As parents, we need to consider what values we want our kids to have and then provide the best possible model of that behavior. And we need to let kids know if they wander off the path because they'll continually test.

People argue that the world has gone nuts, so what does it matter. It matters now perhaps more than ever because while "the world goes nuts" you, as parents, are the filter.

Your kids may disagree and rebel, but as they come into adulthood the model they are most likely to adapt is what you taught them at home.

Pick the lessons you teach carefully. They become the legacy for generations.

you need a measure of insanity to be a parent. Its not a required qualification because the kids will enroll you in that course as soon as it arrives.

Fortunately the parents are not the only influence in a child's life.

These 'parents' (for want of a better word) are using their children to show the world how much they have. And guess what? Its working.

If your parents sent you to school in a chauffeur driven Rolls-Royce, would you thank them for it? Probably not.

It is SO all about the parents. This type of show is ONLY for the benefit of others. Their child is absolutely the last thing on these parents' minds, I guarantee it.

Okay, $50,000 birthday parties are too over the top. They better invite a couple of cusions over, blow the candles out on the cake, sing "Happy Birthday", and call it a night.

Quote: "I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond words... When I was young, we were taught to be discreet and respectful of elders, but the present youth are exceedingly disrespectful and impatient of restraint"

(Hesiod, 8th century BC).

They must be, that is so ridiculous. The kid doesn't even know what is going on, the parents are trying to one up each other.

Yes they are insane. A sane person would not have children thus avoiding problems.
