Men go to the gym to increase self esteem and/or personal fitness. Any man idiot enough to believe having a six pack is all it takes to find a woman is going to be spending a lot of time in the gym.
An ugly man that smiles a lot is a lot more attractive than an adonis thats always miserable.

It's called self confidence. Looking pretty in the face doesn't do it in total for a girl. She's shallow if she falls just for the face & body. And yes, men can be vain in that area - a good body equals attraction to them. But it's so much more that counts & is needed - like personality, self confidence & feeling good about themselves without overdoing the vanity part. =)
