Why don't most fellow Christians know their Church history but accuse you of being wrong of your belief?

I Am Apostolic and i have talked to so many people who tell me what certain scriptures talk about, when you ask them "how do you know?" They say because its in the bible but many of them don't know the history of the bible or the early church belief, they just go by what the preacher says or just by their own interpretation.

I hear the same explaination all the time of certain scripture and its sad to know that many lack knowledge of scripture, Jesus said "My people perish for the lack of knowledge".

Ex. Thou shalt not Kill
Many dont know this is not the original wording, The Hebrew scripture is "Thou shalt not Murder"

Ex. John 1: 1, 2 is assumed to mean Two persons of the Godhead, I asked why, they say " because it says it", According to Historians, Scholars, and even some Former Trinitarians, John 1: 1, 2 does not mean a Trinity, even the early church Fathers

I believe Jesus is God but not apart of the Trinity.

Hermas and Clement of Rome, were Friends of Paul the Apostle and they believed the Son to be the Holy Spirit that is in the Church. Like Jesus said "I will be with you" and "Where two or three are gathered together in my name, their I will be in the midst of them.
They beleived Jesus is the Holy Ghost.

If Paul believed in a Trinity, he would have condemned them.

Hermas also believe in baptism in Jesus name. If you depend on Justin Martyr, Turtillin, Origen, etc, then you are being decieved because even Turtillian ADMITTED that the majority of believers did not believe God to be a Trinity but they beleive Jesus was God.

I only gave out very little information but

My personal experience has been that people feel the need to defend by attacking. Some fellow Christians I've talked with know how little they know and feel threatened when encountered by someone more knowledgeable than them.

They incorrectly associate their lack of knowledge with a lack faith. So they defend because being "right" solidifies their faith.

I think it's a powerful thing to still have faith in the midst of uncertainties. I don't know a ton about scripture, or church history, but I know enough to explain why I believe what I believe and when encountered with a thought or opinion that is new to me I try to respond with "I'll have to check into that" rather than try to reason why my view must be right.

I think it's hard for people in America to understand the concept of having faith in Jesus Christ as the only way to God but still maintaining an open mind.

I agree whole heartily , most Christians assume the that the preacher is right on how he interprets the bible because he was chosen by God . It simply isn't the case . Plus they are taught that they must accept it that way .
I am a Christian , and I will never follow any one so blindly .

On you subject of Jesus not of the trinity , well , I'd have to do some checking on that . but if Jesus was God or the holy spirit , who was the third ? . I don't agree ... yet .

Way too much question. A lot of church goers are Sunday Christians. Monday thru Saturday they are busy with their life in the world. Also many churches (at least on the west coast) don't teach their history nor the history of the Bible. It takes research to find Biblical history, and a lot of people just don't have the time.

i recognize the form you experience. truly. :) i replaced into raised in a Christian environment from very youthful. My mom is a prayer warrior, and that i heard the be conscious by way of preaching, music, and prayer usually happening. My siblings and that i knew the be conscious so properly, we've been given bored in newborn's church because of the fact we had already found out each and all the classes. So I grew up packed with the Spirit, while not having to do plenty on my own. once I have been given to be a teenager, on the same time as I had no desire to truthfully do the flaws you're describing, i replaced into jealous somewhat, basically such as you, that they may be "established" on the same time as i replaced into no longer. I knew He had a purpose for me, and that i wasn't effective i wanted it. yet I knew that God's way could provide me a plenty happier existence than if I indulged in non everlasting happiness. there are this type of large sort of needy human beings available. If we don't help, and persist with His instructions, who will? human beings like us have not got the luxurious of being "established." i recognize, you experience that pull. God placed it in you. once I grew up and have been given married, I had to readjust to no longer having my mom around with the be conscious going each and all the time. I even have on no account had her force to study and pray with the intensity she does. Staying in prayer is like workout. it could appear like a chore, yet you experience plenty greater valuable and cleanser as quickly as you do it. this is significant that I save my spirit uplifted interior the be conscious. I pay attention to stable compliment music plenty, and that i'll communicate to Him approximately something. and that i've got got here upon that, as long as I locate time for Him, there is peace in my homestead. So what i could say to you is, make the time. locate the be conscious and/or a stable preacher on CD and basically placed it on in case you're driving, cleansing your room. locate some compliment music and do the comparable. communicate over with God approximately each and on a daily basis existence, at any time. because of the fact the certainty is, no remember how "established" you such as you have to be, you will on no account have peace until you do what God has placed you right here in the international to do. and you will't recognize that, until you pay attention to what he's making an attempt to tell you. do no longer worry approximately your guilt. basically pay attention. he's already forgiven you for all that stuff besides, the instantaneous you asked.
