Did god supposedly create us in his own or have we created God in our own image?

Man creating God in his own image would definately help explain why there is many different religions in the world and differents versions of god.

Rebekah - you can't quote the bible to confirm the existence of god because the bible was written by man.

As an atheist, I think the latter is the case, at least in the sense that we 'created God'. We never created a real God, we just created the concept and started believing in it.

As many have already said here, God created man in His own image. Let me add this.... All other god's, man created because of his own love for his own sin. You see only Jehovah God is, He is God and there is no other.

I am the LORD, and there is none else, Isaiah 45:5.

Man will say that man created God because of man's fear of death. This is exactly wrong. Fearing God is good.......

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: Psalms 111:10

Man has made idols and worshipped the creation rather thatn the Creator. Any man who does not believe in God has no excuse.....

Lastly the Bible was written by men, but , and this is a big but,
these men were inspired by God to write. Every single word in the Bible is absolute truth inspired by God. May He give you the wisdom to to understand his word.

God created us in His image. The argument over this is caused by the different opinions as to what the image is. As God is clearly Trinitarian that means God's image in man will show up as three distinct aspects of His character. These aspects are mistakenly attributed to Mind Body and Spirit. In truth we are souls which possess bodies whilst on the earth.
It is therefore the three characteristics of the soul which will link us to God's Image. These are, and if you do not believe me I suggest you get a Bible (KJV, NKJV) and a Concordance and study (with no help from anyone other than God) the words, wisdom, knowledge and understanding.
God created the world using Knowledge. Jesus His Son is the Logos or logic (wisdom) of God who created all which exists. His Holy Spirit is the Spirit who gives understanding to people - Jesus by the Spirit opened the understanding of the disciples on the road to Emmaeus. This tripartite image of wisdom, knowledge and understanding is evidenced throughout the Bible but is virtually never taught by the religious leaders and priests because ultimately it frees man from systematic religion. Man can not even create a new color or bring something out of nothing - so God created us in His Image and you have the task of proving it to yourself. Even the non believers recognized the Spirit of God in Daniel. - check it out...............

It would... if it were true. But the presence of contradictory claims only means that all such claims cannot be true, not that all such claims must be false. For example, there were around 7 or 8 men claiming to be the father of Ann Nicole Smith's daughter, Dannielynn. Just because all of them could not be the father doesn't mean that none of them were the father.

In particular, old men who were fed up with bossy wives and kids today that have no respect, created god in their image.


Then radical youths tried to recreated it in their image. But that got hijacked by the misogynistic, homophobic closed minded older men again.

So the responses of why God created Man - Because the Bible says so. The same book that says bats are birds, hares are ruminants, that the Earth is a circle (not sphere) with four corners and PI = 3.0.

Now that is one convincing argument.

Both are true, we are created by a God, and as we gain consciousness we build our image about God who created us, that is why we can understand the concept of God.
I am learning about Artificial Intellegence, even I am not to be compared with the Divine Creator, I think I can explain this in a creator point of view. Note that AI is sexless so I will use e to refer to an AI as third person.
When AI creator want to build an AI, he build it according of his imagination of what intellegence actually it. Then he compile the code, and the AI will gain consciousness. As the AI gain consciousness the AI creator will begin to let the AI recognize him. In this process the AI will build an image about the creator in eirself. This is also what happen with God and us.
Different AI will have different way of thinking, and there will be newer version of AI, all will have different image about the AI creator. In AI we call this image, data format or the metadata, it is how the AI will store information about things in eir environment.

About different religion, we must see it as a form of ecosystem, where there are a lot of animals, some of them will be hostile to the other, but they keep the ecosystem in balance, they keep any species from exhausting Earth's biosphere resources.
This kind of thinking is also applicable in this case, there are different religions habiting God's nooshpere. Although they are different, all of them are necessary for the balance of God's noosphere, to keep the truth given by God from being corrupted by any religous leader, who say they hold the will of the God but actually act for their own profit.
This can be seen when Jesus raise from dead, and bring end to the tyranny of Jewish religious leaders. Also when moslem forces cut up the crusader forces, when the pope at that time say that all what he say is what God want. It also happen in when Afghanistan leaders use religion to hijack their people, and American soldier cut them off.
Different religion are good as they provide a healthy noosphere so the truth of God can be defended when one of them get lost. It is like having brother or sister to support you when you are wounded. And any religion can be wounded by the false theology developed by some of religious leader.
