I did something to a friend of mine (lied to him) when I shoudln't have. I've asked for his forgiveness numerous times, should I just give up and stop asking for his forgiveness? I admitted that what I did was wrong and we all make mistakes and I'm not justifying what I did. He's always preaching the bible and talking about forgiveness, however he won't forgive me. Should I just say f*ck it and leave it alone?

People often dont practice what they preach. You have done all you can do by asking his forgiveness and showing him you are truly sorry for hurting him. It's up to him to forgive and let it go. If he cant, then move on, sometimes it's like that and thats the way it is.

If the appology came from the heart and was offered of your own free will, then i think you have done all you can do. If he finds your situation so unacceptable that he will not forgive you, two possibilities exist, either you have been exceptionally cruel or offensive, or your freind is a nut case. In either case, your freindship is on ice until this matter is resolved. I suggest you make one more valiant attempt and close by saying that you cannot pursue a freindship without forgiveness and you will not contact him again until he does. Then just try to get on with your life.

If he truly believes the bible he will forgive you. Try one last time and let him know that you will be there when he decides to forgive you. Then let it go. You have done what you can. You have asked for forgiveness; there is no need to grovel. This is on him now.

if you've already asked for his forgiveness whole heartedly on numerous occasions then yea...just let it go...you cant really do much if he's unwilling to forgive...he's also being a hypocrite for not practicing what he preaches.
