my grandma and me were arguing. i know it makes u more flexable etc. and does burn some calories but not nearly as much as running or swimming right?

Right. Yoga doesnt burn more calories like other exercises do. Yoga is a different programme of fitness. It induces flexibility of the whole body, keeps you slim and trim, and does help you in reducing weight. But other forms of exercises like jogging, running, swimming and weights, burn off more calories but at the same time, also drains you off. You tend to put on more weight if you dont observe the discipline of dieting. Yoga on the other hand if done regularly, automatically trims your body and makes you supple.

Comparing Yoga to swimming is like comparing two different things. Yoga is stretches and helps you become relaxed, and stretch, but it doesn't burn nearly as much calories as swimming, running, etc.

Any exercise involving bodily movement will result in burning of calories!
