Why don't most fellow Christians know their Church history but accuse you of being wrong of your belief?
I Am Apostolic and i have talked to so many people who tell me what certain scriptures talk about, when you ask them "how do you know?" They say because its in the bible but many of them don't know the history of the bible or the early church belief, they just go by what the preacher says or just by their own interpretation.
I hear the same explaination all the time of certain scripture and its sad to know that many lack knowledge of scripture, Jesus said "My people perish for the lack of knowledge".
Ex. Thou shalt not Kill
Many dont know this is not the original wording, The Hebrew scripture is "Thou shalt not Murder"
Ex. John 1: 1, 2 is assumed to mean Two persons of the Godhead, I asked why, they say " because it says it", According to Historians, Scholars, and even some Former Trinitarians, John 1: 1, 2 does not mean a Trinity, even the early church Fathers

I believe Jesus is God but not apart of the Trinity.
Hermas and Clement of Rome, were Friends of Paul the Apostle and they believed the Son to be the Holy Spirit that is in the Church. Like Jesus said "I will be with you" and "Where two or three are gathered together in my name, their I will be in the midst of them.
They beleived Jesus is the Holy Ghost.
If Paul believed in a Trinity, he would have condemned them.
Hermas also believe in baptism in Jesus name. If you depend on Justin Martyr, Turtillin, Origen, etc, then you are being decieved because even Turtillian ADMITTED that the majority of believers did not believe God to be a Trinity but they beleive Jesus was God.
I only gave out very little information but

Another great question - third for the morning.
You are so correct in your statement. I have spent many years in research and study of various religions and wonder the same issue.
The Bible, and other books, has been translated and "adjusted" so many times it is not even near what the original was designed to be. I have a direct translation from the original writings and it is not only not on the same page it isn't even in the same library.
People are naturally lazy and easy to brainwash into believing what ever the preacher, or others, say about their religion.
Maybe someday?

The shall not murder point is justified. But that point being true doesn't mean the second one is...
John 1:1-2. I think its pretty hard not to see the Word as being Jesus. And it says the Word was with God and is God.
Holy Spirit came down on Jesus to anoint Him when He went through baptism by John. If the Holy Spirit was Jesus why did He need to come down on Jesus? That would be illogical. Also Jesus says Holy Spirit is coming to the church in His place - the Holy Spirit was not Him. He ascended back to heaven.
The shekinah presence of God in the Temple in the Old Testament was the Holy Spirit I think (but don't know what theologians think). At least when the Holy Spirit manifests himself in that heavy sense of a glorious presence one sometimes encounters at services, it seems to be like descriptions of the shekinah presence in the Old Testament.

sir, you are sadly misinformed. the fathers of the early church were overwhelmingly "trinitarian" in their writings and the N. T. is full of budding "trinitarian" doctrine.
don't get wrapped in the defining word "trinity"...it is a word to help define a concept clear in the Church, since it's foundation with Christ and his apostles.
You, sir, are a victim of Sabellianism which first arose in The 2nd century A.D.
Your interpretation of Jn. 1:1-3,18. 5:23. 7:29. 8:17-18, 54-58. 10:14-18,28-30,37-38. 14:16-20, 23. 15: 26. 16:7-8, 13-15, 25-28. 17:1-5, 21-25. is absurd and turns these passages into nonsense.
You are not referring to the bulk of scholarship, rather to a few who cater to your anti-catholic views.
I would be more than happy to educate you on your misunderstandings.
God bless.

You are right about assuming that if one just reads the Bible the obvous right theological or other answer will just pop out will not happen and never has happened
. One needs the right Tradition( Which is it? Nicene Catholic? The almost infinite varieties of Protestant? Gnostic?Ebionite?Arian?Mormon? Sabellian? I find the Catholic to be the only one with real credentials) and the authoritative Church(again Which is it? The only ones with real history are the Catholic and Orthodox) even to decide what canon of the Bible 's books one would consider inspired lwt alone how and why to interpret the Bible texts.
Since I am convinced that God is Eternal and Infinite Love ,the Trinity makes the most sense to me of the Orthodox Trinitarian,Unitarian,Arian,Polytheistic,Modalist(Jesus Only;Patripassian) and other claimants to being the real Christian theology of Godhead. God bless!

You're confused. The trinity has existed in eternity past and eternity future. The Holy Spirit is not mentioned in scripture until after Jesus has been crucified and has risen from the grave. When Jesus went to heaven is when He sent the
Spirit to earth to guide us. Just because scripture did not mention Him doesn't mean he didn't exist before that point in time.

I can't answer your question, but wow. I'm not a Christian, and I have to give you major creds for being educated like that. You're completely right, so many Christians just feed off of what other people tell them instead of exploring it themselves, and that's not a very good religion, is it? You're a very educated person, keep at it.

i've got self belief that everyone seems to be entitled to their opinion and that i've got self belief that this is no longer what God planned to take place, yet you're truthfully nevertheless a Christian in case you help gay rights. Its sort of like asserting that folk who...think of cussing is high quality are not Christian. that's ridiculous, i recognize an incredible sort of Christians who cuss! So i think of you're nevertheless a Christian in case you help gay rights. God will continually choose you truly.:-)

It takes a lot of work to know the Bible. And it can't be done alone usually. One would need to go to seminary for that. How did you do it?
