I think the pastor has put the "mega" before the "church", and exchanged the humility of a servant for the greed of a CEO. Sad. Even sadder that his "flock" would dutifully haul out their pay stubs for perusal. What the trustees and Rev. Dollar (talk about an apt name) would get from me in that case is a slip of paper with 1 Timothy 6:10 written on it, along with the word "goodbye".

You're not bashing "Christians". Neither batch are Christians.
If they were
1. The People that this is happening to would never allow it, and the would know that tithing is not for the New Testament Christian.
2. If the Pastor and the board were Christians they would know that tithing died with Christ on the Cross with the rest of the Old Testament laws.
If they are that stupied the deserve each other. But we do need to be praying for them.
I am a Christian and a Pastor.

I think that is awful. Do the pastor and elders of the church bring in their pay stubs so the congregation knows how much they are being ripped off for? That is a disgrace. I would never attend a church like that.

Gross invasion of privacy, even before you get on to the dubious morality of the followers of imaginary creatures being required to pay 10% of their earnings to an organisation based on lies, deceit and disinformation. They would be better off spending 10% of their wages on lottery tickets. They would have a chance of getting something concrete and worthwhile, and they would, if they won, be given a real chance to make a difference to people's lives rather than have a bureaucracy sap their money and pastors spend the money on whores, drugs and excesses.

It doesn't surprise me at all. The non-denominational Bible church that I USED to attend published every November what each member had given.
The pastor has a Corvette collection....

A fellow I used to work with had a preacher who, when the collection plate seemed light to him, spoke from the pulpit where ATMs were located.
He eagerly would take his flock to the doctor appointments. On the way, he would have then pay for gas to fill up his Cadilac. He would then phone everyone of his flock to tell them he was at the sister so-and-so doctor's appointment.
How unlike Jesus and his true followers. Matt. 10:8 where Jesus said respecting the apostles knowledge, "you received free, give free." Paul in 2 Thessalonians 3:7-10 said flat out he did not want to have any excessive burden placed on the congregation there as to be a cause for stumbling christians in their faith. He worked hard to not eat for free off them. If they were not willing to work for food, they should not eat.
This gives us the lesson, we are not to charge for our spiritual knowledge but give it freely. We each should get a job for our needs; not rely on the congregation to keep us up.

I think that no where in the bible do you find where that is okay and in fact in the new testament you don't find a standard for how much to give as you do in the old testament so i would say that your pastor is absolutely wrong in that and i would like to know how he justifies that biblically because that is all that matters to me. I think that you need to ask him what the deal with that is because as far as i know that is unbiblical

The pastor is wrong in my opinion. Tithes are supposed to be between you and God and given from the heart. The pastor is not the keeper of your heart. God is and will know if you are giving faithfully. Hope I told you what you thought.

Change churches that is not what Jesus would allow.
Those money grabbers of the old Temple are back again.
And that's what got Jesus in trouble in the first place by knocking over the revenue collectors.
Yea, yea what if God only knew and would tell him on the phone but the Pope in Rome is on again.

That is wrong. Yes, we should tithe. However, like any of God's commandments that He gives us, we have the option to obey or disobey. Tithing is for us to give not the pastors to take.
