Miniature schnauzers! They are very energetic. Mine always loves to play. When me and my bro take ours for a walk, we stop 100 yards away from our house. I run 75 yard towards our house, then my bro releases our puppy. He almost always beats me home. They don't shed! Although their beard might need occasional trimming, maybe once every 2 months. I don't know how small you mean but, ours is about a foot high and 15 pounds. He is full grown. As for cuteness, ours always turns its head sideways and gives you these big puppy dog eyes. If you would like to see some pictures of miniature schnauzers, just go to yahoo.com, and do a image search on miniature schnauzer!

Good luck!

A poodle comes in 3 sizes - standard - minature and toy. I have a poodle and he does not shed, however, has to be groomed every 2 or 3 months. If you don't do so - the hair will knot. There are other dogs also that do not shed.

Jack Russel terriers need all the exercise possible!! They are energetic cannonballs of destruction if not given proper attention!!!
Yorkie's are great!!
Shitzus, though they have several health problems.
Silkies!! They look like Yorkies, but shed a little less, saying that Yorkies shed at a minimum pace. So Silkies shed less than that.

Mini Schanuzers are cute, sweet, very smart and don't shed. I love mine. He's like my baby. They are very loyal dogs and will definately keep an eye out for your house. They are the best watchdogs as well.

I love my cockapoo, he's very smart and loyal. He does not shed but as others have said he does see a groomer every 3 - 4 months for a shave, which cost about $40.00 a time.

ALL dogs shed but poodle are known as no shedder as they shed their inner coat that gets matted in teh outer layer of hair. I Will say all the breeds known for non-shedding are dogs that need a great deal of grooming and should be proffessionally grromed atleast every 4 months wiht you doing extreme care inbetween.

a lot of times those "designer" breeds like labradoodles and chi-poos are the least shedders.. Poodles are known for not shedding but if you want minimal exercise too I'd go with any small, tiny dog..
