How long are people finding it takes to get your passport back if you mailed in in?

I know the site says up to 10 weeks, but are people finding its taking all 10 weeks?

In actual fact, the site is just another Government statement,...designed to give them extra time. This is simply so that they can look better when they get the passport to you within the normal 6 week period. Have a good Day !!!

I mailed mine in and it took 14 weeks. When I sent it in, they were saying 9 weeks and changed it to 10 weeks over a month later. So that was 1.5 longer than they suggested. I was thinking it would likely come earlier than 10 weeks too, that they were giving themselves extra time. No such luck. Processing might be a bit more streamlined now, and the volume might be slightly lower, BUT yes, it can take that long. OH, and it says 10 weeks plus mailing time. After 10 weeks they sent me a receipt and my birth certificate back. That leads me to believe it took them 10 weeks to open the envelope. So, they ignored the I need it for travel on date. It's a good thing I didn't book tickets. That was a month ago, and I have since been to Vegas and back.

You should have gone to an office. Yes it can take upto 10 weeks.

Due to the passport dept not hiring more people to handle the rush that they knew was coming due to the new US rules, it can take that amount of time. They are sort of swamped with applications right now.

Taking it to an office would have been a little quicker.
