It is as Greenwood and jiloth7 tell us.
It is not easy to see "identifying marks" because many churches teach the Bible. There are so many differing doctrines with the churches. Some churches have man made rules. How do we figure it all out?
Proving all things, as God wants us to, comes from study of the Bible, and having to change our ideas, if we come to a conclusion that we have now learned the correct knowledge.
A person doesn't have to be in any particular church to be in God's true church. God's true church, also known as the Church of God, is made up of individual persons. Churches are not saved as a whole; it's individuals that can come from anywhere, and God knows the hearts of each individual.
It is man who put labels or names on the various groups of churches, and God looks past that, to each individual, as to how they are living their life, the condition of their heart, whether they have love for God, whether they have love for others, whether they worship and follow the path that Jesus came to show us. God's true church is a Spiritualy minded group of people...people that God has chosen, because God knows what's in their hearts, they have the Holy Spirit, and they obey God, with Love!God has chosen them because they are obedient to Him. That is one of the identifying marks.
another identifying mark is that God says that observing the Sabbath ( the 7th day is the one God is talking about) is a sign between God and His people.
Hope this helos...Blessings to you!

Jesus said I am giving you a new command that you have love among yourselves
God does not burn people in a hell fire
Most people do not die and go to heaven. Earth was made for man..only a few go with Jesus to rule for 1000 years
The pure religion does not kill in wars, they do not join the military
They do not share worship of the true God with the state or nation...the true church does not have an American flag in it.
Jesus was not into politics...he followers are not into politics either..they are NO part of the world.
They are footstep followers of Christ Jesus and go door to door teaching those to observe God commands and staying faithful till the end.**

There is no identifying mark whatsoever on the true religion but it was stated in the bible that it is the Church of God which was founded by Jesus and he is the head of that church. Just read and understand the bible and you will come to know it.

Love, Kindness, Peace, Forgiveness....everything positive that is a derivative of love, but I wouldn't call it a "true Church". For all humanity has this potential, regardless of religious affiliation. We just choose to pick out our differences instead of where we are all similar. What a shame, I think that we do this to one another.

Peace, Love, and Blessings

casting the devil out each time before a service, teaching on hell as not enough churches preach on that, a church that teaches you how to get right with God so you do not have to miss the rapture, a bible believing church, a pastor that does not judge, a spirit filled church where you are seeing miracles in your church. Encourageing believers to pray more. Teaching aobut spiritual warfare and how to deal with it.

First - LOVE - and I don't mean "sloppy agape!" By love I mean speaking the truth to everyone whether they like it or not
because truth must be told to those we love.

Second - FAITH - faith that is strong and unwavering and will stand strong in any kind of adversity because it sees God in everything and His presence makes adversity insignificant.

Third - HOPE - because we know that the Lord has given us certain promises of the world to come, and our faith brings the promises of God into focus so that we can effectively put our focus on things above which are eternal instead of the things of this life which are temporal.

In addition; the real people of God will have no fear of man or things or circumstances. They will speak the word of God with boldness and power and authority. They will teach and preach all of God's word including the unpleasant things that will come upon those who refuse to bow to the Holy Creator and Sustainer of the universe and everything in it. They will desire, as God does, that all men everywhere should repent and be saved, and will do something about it - not just talk about it. They will have zeal coupled with knowledge and the word of God will live in them and flow out of them as naturally as breathing. They will command spirits of evil and those evil spirits will flee when spoken to "in the name of Jesus." They will lay hands on the sick and they will be healed. They will love the Lord with all their hearts, souls, mind and strength and will be willing to die if necessary for the cause of Christ.
They will be scorned by those who are in some churches and by those who are in rebellion against God, but they will love their enemies and pray for those who persecute them. They will be considered militant by the slothful and indifferent who call themselves Christian, but they will enter the battle with a determination to win or die. They will be warriors depending on their Captain to lead them into victory after victory, and they will be more than conquerors as the word of God declares them to be. The world will hate them because there is no compromise in them and they will never water down the word of God to suit anyone. Christ is their King, and they will never bow down to or serve anyone else. The devil trembles in their presence and knows that they have power over him and all his imps. He fights against them but knows he never wins the ultimate victory. They will hear the Lord say on the day of judgment; "Well done thou good and faithful servant; enter into the joy of your Lord!"

EDIT: THE THUMBS DOWN ALWAYS CONFIRMS WHAT I ALREADY KNOW TO BE TRUE. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE THOSE WHO OPPOSE TRUTH AND HAVE NO DESIRE TO DEAL WITH IT.

Its Catholic. I think a church that is setup by Jesus and his disciples tends to hold credit as THE church.
