I am wiring my JVC aftermarket stereo in my 2002 Sunfire and I have all the speaker wires power constant 12v and ground connected, but I am having problems determining from the stock radio harness which wire is for the ignition.

I am unsure which one it could be because when the key is removed and the driver doors remains shut the stock radio continued to play for 20 minutes then turned off, this must mean that it is wired through the cars computer ?

I am also not sure how to wire the radio to still have the reminder chime for when the lights are left on or the key is in the ignition ?? Because this chime came through the driverside front speaker when the stock radio was still there.

I have hit a big dead end with these 2 problems. Thanks for all the help.

You do have the data-bus controlled radio, so there is no accessory power connection in the factory harness. You need a special adapter module to provide accessory voltage and generate the vehicle warning chimes in place of the factory radio. Here's a module that would work: http://www.amazon.com/Metra-Class-Data-Interface-GMRC01/dp/B00032AIGG

Well, the two guys talking about you getting the special module for the door chime are absolutely correct.. i think its called the GMCRC01 or something like that because wiring the radio up the way you are will either kill the radio, or the car will start doing funny things.. i have seen at least 8 cars this year that have come to the shop with people that have installed their own radios and the car does some crazy things. the door light will stay on.. car wont start.. door chime wont go off, keeps ringing.. windshield whippers stay on.. its best to let a professional install this for you or at least get that plug..

There is no swithed source of power behind that radio because it is a bata bus radio. If you want to keep the door dinger, key dinger and warning that you left your parking lights on you will need to get a module to retain all of that, iof you dont mind loosing them you can run a wire to the ignition harness or you can go to fuse box and get your switched power there. I hope this helps you and good luck.

if you had used a wiring harness there wouldn't be any question. however a test light or multi meter should be able to tell you which wire it is
