I don't necessarily believe society is going down the toilet. Yes, people are more selfish than ever these days. Yes, the days of being polite just to be polite are long gone. However, I would argue that society is more of a pendulum swing than anything else. We swing from one extreme to the next. It's a constant in history, if you think about it. We are now living in a society that believes in self-importance, over-consumption and impatience. This will pass, and a new wave of society will emerge. We may not notice it as it happens, but it will happen.

OMG yes I have, there is no compassion anymore, I have had such bad luck over the last year, and if I want pitty or help I cant find it, I ride my bike, people yell at me because they have to go around me, last week I was in line at the deli counter, a long line, and some lady lady just cut right in front of me.............I said to her "NO YOU DID NOT" lol , we have had record number of hit and runs in this state, I being a victim of one, how can you run over a human and keep going?someone ran over my cat friday, they kept going, no big suprise to me., even the pizza delivery guy was in a bad mood. well I hope people get what ever is stuck up their a?? out and show some kindness in this world soon

You might consider a couple of things; number one, you are really generalizing about 5 billion people, hundreds of cultures. And, I don't think you are doing much comparison with previous cultures to be able to make the distinction of whether we are on the way UP or on the way DOWN.

Hopefully, with your spelling and name calling, we will improve rather than sink even lower than your level.

Of course it is getting worse, people do not seek wisdom anymore only self here in lies the problem. All wisdom one ever needs is in the New Testament as well as Sayings of the original Buddha (not his followers) as well as sayings of Confusious and Gahndi. If people took there teachings to heart Earth would be paradise and we wouldn't need to dream of heaven we'd be in it.

Indeed! We've become so reliant on technology, having the best things, looking our best that we have become self centred. We have lost out compassion and humanity. Were afraid to talk to people anymore. It makes me sad so very sad.

Id like to apologize for my generation right off the bat , before we screw up any more than we already have. im 19 , sri to all those war veterans who fought for this country , and have to see us younger generations screw it up , with our obsession with celebrities , and lack of interest in politics.
