Congratulations on your quest to play guitar. First, buy a beginner's guitar book that has basic music theory in it. Also included will be instructions in tuning the guitar, holding it to play, and will show basic accessories.

Second, find a qualified guitar instructor for one-on-one lessons. You don't want to learn bad habits in forming the chords and strumming techniques because they are difficult to stop. Your local, reputable music store should have instructors on board.

The instructor at the store can also help you choose the guitar right for you. Learning to play is easy up to a point. After you've gained your fingertip calluses the whole world of guitar playing is before you.

Third, learn music theory. Playing tablature can come later, which will help you learn the entire fretboard.

Fourth, practice constantly, but focus on chord formations, learning the fretboard, and then chord progressions. Have patience with yourself; you won't become a Chet Atkins overnight.

Learning the Guitar You need a course of instruction. The best way is with a private teacher 2nd would be class lessons 3rd regularly get together with other guitar players or if you absolutely will or cannot do the above, Buy a book on how to play the guitar and follow it religiously. Last would be to find some free online lessons and skip around in them doing what YOU think you want to do next. Guitar is one of the world’s most popular instruments. It is easy to take with you. It has a sound that people like. It can be use in almost any type of music. Almost anyone can learn to play it. Simple music is easily played after only a few days or weeks. You can continue to learn new and challenging music forever.

U have a guitar? U know how to tune it? Ok ,buy a book of basic chords. Learn 2 or 3 eg A D E. Practise changing beteween them. Ur fingers will hurt for a while but it will pass. When U can change reasonably quickly, find a book of songs U know with 3 chords. Simple ones are Going tot he Zoo, or He's Got the Whole World in His Hands. Hope this helps.
