I realise that you have personal reasons for not going, but I would say GO! I have just returned (been back about a year) from 5 years in Germany and I would go back tomorrow.
I would go back, if only for the money,
Perks
Tax free cars ( I bought a wee Fiesta and got 4 grand off)
Duty-free petrol (I was paying around 50p a litre)
No TV Licence
No Car Tax
Cheap housing / fuel and light
NO VAT!!!
and half a hundred other benefits.
I was stationed in Rheindahlen and Herford both were fantastic the people, the food the drink!
Three great reasons for going, (1) You can drive at ANY speed on the Germany Motorways (you haven't lived until you have passed a Police car at 120mph, legally!) (2) The Beers is great and cheap and (3) It is really cheap to go out and have a meal. I spent a year living out of hotels and eating in restaurants every night. I never paid more than £20 for a meal (and that was in the 5 star hotels).
Living in any foreign country is an experience, if you have the chance go.

you cant and you must have realised when you joined the army that you could be sent overseas at any time and you would be away from family for long periods of time as well, thats part and parcel of being a soldier. I didnt particularly like being in the former Yugoslavia for six months solid or a year in Northern Ireland, but I had accepted that as part of being a serviceman as should you, I didnt sit whining about it or trying to get out of it, neither did my father before me, my grandfather before him, or my great grandfather who was killed in the trenches in the first world war. Really, think yourself lucky youre not in Iraq, the worst danger youre in posted to Germany is drunken bar fights or being CS gassed in the face by the Bundespolizei, nowadays theres no chance of toe-to-toe with the Warsaw Pact and the moneys good so just make the most of it, buy a car in Germany and save having to pay VAT, save up some of that extra pay and enjoy the beer thats so cheap theyre giving it away

With 7 months left you shouldn't have enough time to PCS anywhere, something you'll be asked about at your levy brief, different places have different minimum time left in service requirements in order for you to be sent there...7 months is not enough time. When I came down on orders I had 2 years on my enlistment left and had to sign a paper that extended my enlistment to meet the 3 year requirement for a Germany tour, if I didn't want to go, I just didn't have to sign and they would cut orders for me to go somewhere else. Theres also a 2 year tour in Germany for those in their 1st enlistment, but 7 months is still not enough time.

Don't be a punk. Do your time honorably and then just get out. What the heck is so hard about that?
And yes I have served.

With only 7 months to serve, why would you want to get out?
Go ahead and finish your tour and get an honorable discharge.
Trust me, you'll be glad you did.
