A lot of people still do, mostly in the mountain states, where there is a lot of public and private land available for it. Trapping has mostly died out due to low prices, and people aren't as interested in doing the work anymore.

I use to trap. But now the rules and reg.s are so tough, along with the little money that a fur is worth. It's not worth the time that it even takes to skin, or the money for the traps.

I'm in British Columbia Canada. i know several people that manage trap lines. it's more of a hobby than anything else. they don't make a profit to speak of but having a registered trap line allows them to have a private trapping cabin for personal use out in the middle of nowhere. one fellow i know has a hot tub and a sauna as well as a gourmet kitchen in his. he does trap wolves, wolverines, martin, and beaver. he does manage to sell the hides to show the government that he is actively trapping so they don't revoke his trapping license.

I have several friends that trap, and my dad and I used to, and then i just started hunting them. Trappin doesnt bring in enough money, and hunting them i shoot more of them, so i make more.
