It's not my story, it's my aunt's. She met a refugee from Colombia. He was a close friend of a politician over there and had been beat up and left for dead by some of his political opponents. He came to Canada as a refugee. He and my aunt became friends and eventually declared their love for each other. All of a sudden, shortly after this, he distanced himself from her. It took him a while for him to finally explain the reason for this. After he had been beaten, he had to have surgeries, and therefore blood transfusions. Some of that blood was contaminated, and he became HIV-positive. Once he found that out, he figured there was no future for him with my aunt. He died a few years ago. So the people who wanted to kill him indirectly succeeded, his demise was only delayed.

I'm not sure if my story is the saddest but I'm still trying to recover from it.

I met this guy, fell deeply in love with him. The first 6 months were good then he started to change. He pushed me once, I forgave him. He made me cry on my 21st birthday and didn't celebrate it with me. I forgave him.

My aunt was diagnosed with final stage of breast cancer, I had to take care of her but he didn't understand and didn't really support me. I wanted him to visit my aunt with me the day after I celebrated his birthday. He got mad on that day and left me crying in public. I forgave him.

He left me alone in public for the second time when I was on my way to meet him for dinner. I tried to forgive him. The final straw came when he wasn't there for me when my aunt died. He even scolded me 'stupid and unreasonable' when I expected him to be at the funeral wake. That was the end.

Yah. I truly loved him and gave all that I could, forgiving him each time but he didn't treasure it. Still hurts...

All the real life letters written by US soldiers who died in Iraq war. They were publish in Newsweek mag.

There were 3 or 4 letters, the type where they write to be given to their love ones in case they get killed on duty. It was very sad, how they talk about all the good times the remembered and how they tell their loves one not to get angry or blame it on anyone.

The bit near the end of : 'The Time Machine' always made me cry. When Alex is told that he can't save the woman he spent his lifetime trying to save. His face shows so many emotions, your not sure if he's sad or angry. Makes me cry every time.

Once I read in the magazine, a married couple on the way to their honeymoon had a car accident, the husband died and the wife was unconcious in hospital. When she came to, her husband was already burried. It was so sad I cried.
