Yes - normally requires you have a BSc or higher in Mathematics or Physics, and then you do more specialized math-based training at postgrad level.

For TV meterology you have to be a person with a personality and a record for getting the forecast wrong on a daily basis.
To be one for the national meterological service you need to study science and weather and weather conditions. That would be the real meterology
