I should have known what it would be like, this site. But I'm ever-hopeful. I learned a bit more about Islam, knowledge which is important to us all in the West; I learned a bit about atheism, which is important to me, a nonbeliever. As to Christianity, I learned nothing I did not know as a poor kid in Jim Crow Georgia. Good people here directed me to books and sites about Islam and atheism, which I appreciate. I can't say then that my visits over two weeks have been a waste. Questions/answers sprung by "hate" and ignorance disappointed me, though clearly some kids were dancing round the mulberry bush and being playful, or merely geeky, or snickeringly perverse and thinking to sting, to hurt and insult behind the veil the Internet provides. But, all in all, I've learned here. And you?

All things dull and ug-ly, All creatures, short and squat, All things rude and na-sty, The Lord God made the lot.

Each little snake that poisons, Each little wasp that stings, He made their prudish venom, He made their horrid wings.

All things sick and cancerous, All evil great and small, All things foul and dangerous, The Lord God made them all.

Each nasty little hornet, Each beastly little squid, Who made the spiky urchin? Who made the sharks? He did!

All things scant and ulcerous, All pox both great and small,
Putrid, foul and gangrenous, The Lord God made them all.

Amen.

I learned I am not washed up completely yet. My health mostly keeps me useless for anything and mini-strokes left me scrambling my numbers. How could I help anyone with what I still knew?

This site answered. I help answer peoples questions with proper answers, not guesses. Sometimes I give locations of Bible scriptures or not, depending on the way the question seems. I try to be brief as no one wants l o n g answers.

As to your beliefs, I am not surprised. The stupidity of most religions claiming to be Christian, I am surprised everyone is not in agreement with you.

What most people do not realize is there is one true Christian religion and 1,000s of false ones. Think, no earthly owner of any business would ever hire people to do anything they wanted. Why would an orderly Creator? He would say, "This is what I want. This is how I want it." Does that not make sense?

Most of all I have learned of the number of young people who are turning or have turned from God, and this is frightening to me so I answer as many questions by these type of people as possible in a non belittling, abusive, or fanatical way so that they might read and seek more information on their most important choice and the eternal consequences. I have found many people on all sides of the RS site to be quite intelligent and responsive to those truly seeking answers. I have found some who are quite humorous with their questions and these are fun to respond in kind to.
What I have learned most of all though is that God still sits on the throne, the sun still comes up every morning, the world still goes round, and life is all about choices and consequences.

It is still better than the screaming matches which filled the religion rooms back in the days of User Created Yahoo ChatRooms. This place is relatively civil. So I learned that religiouds people can talk to some degree.:

Well, I agree there is much deceit here. A tremendous amount of raw anti-Christianity, even in spite of a few religious nuts here. But,........"Jim Crow Georgia"??? "Islam,... knowledge... important to the West"???
I would say you still have a lot to learn if this is your mindset.
Would you like to elaborate on that a little?

I've learned that there are things I really respect about religions I would have considered marginal before coming here. I've learned that some people find peace, hope and meaning through religion, when I used to thing that all religion could offer was dogma.

I would like nothing better than to truly help people learn more about Christianity, but alas, my time is spent with the scoffers and nay-sayers. It seems that most of the people that are here DON'T WANT to learn anything about Christianity, they just want to disrupt, or bolster their own prejudice and bias.
The bible is truly amazing to those who WANT to learn. There are many Christian websites that will help.
Go to: answersingenesis.org for the really tough questions.
You can do your wander around the spiritual world like I did. Hopefully you will come back to your Christian roots.

I have observed the sins of pride, anger, and hate for others
I have observed understanding, love, and concern for others

I have learned people have needs and other people need to meet those needs where they are- even on a boring internet site.
