Ft Lewis has decided that we are losing too many soldiers to offer 'individual' memorials for those that are killed in action. They will now offer a 'once a month' service. Well, what kind of crap is that? . PLEASE , if you agree that fast food funerals for soldiers are WRONG, repost this and make the public aware of this travesty.
Thanks!

"The Fort Lewis acting commander, Brigadier General William Troy, told staff last week that the number of soldiers in harm's way will preclude individual services."

He is saying that it is better to take care of the living and remember the Fallen together as a Group

A Memorial service is not the same as a Funeral. A Funeral is just that a Funeral, a Memorial Service is for the UNIT and Base to gather together to remember the fallen, such as the Memorials performed on Memorial Day and Veteran's Day.

The Funerals WILL BE INDIVIDUAL EVENTS.

I'm sorry to have to write this but it needs to be said. Thanks to the train of thought that so many people have like tantruven or however you spell the name, is why I will say they are ignorant. First of all American soldiers are not going around slaughtering Iraqi children. Second of all if you really care about war torn communities where the children are being injured and killed why don't you google Darfur. That is in the Sudan if you didn't know. Last I checked Sudanese children are not WILLING participants in the construction, placement, and observation of roadside bombs, Iraqi children are. So no, those children won't get buried with honors. And every single soldier who dies in uniform regardless of the cause deserves the respect of the citizens of our great country. But you know what is great also? They die to give you the right to compare them to baby killers. God bless America.

This is absolutely ridiculous. My husband is in Iraq right now, and if something were to happen to him, I would be devestated to be told that he would get a "generic" funeral.
The men and women of the Armed Forces fight for our country, wheather they agree with the war or not. They are serving our country and the LEAST we can do for them is provide them with a honorable memorial.

that is crap. every service member that dies for their country should be remembered, and have their own memorial service regardless of how many others have died in that month.

If that is the idea, that is his idea. Good and kindness is best suited for the living not the dead.
