Oh yeah, that always happens with newbies of any type. They're excited and they want to share that excitement with others, regardless of how annoying it comes off as.
It's funny how a lot of these new zealots have responses that read like a cue card: 1. I was miserable / confused before, 2. Then I found the truth in blah blah blah, 3. so now I want you all to read this book or do this meditation/prayer that I did in my moment of desperation, and I assume it will have the same exact impact on you.

their excitement over a new religion sometimes makes them overly zealous in an attempt to make them believe stronger...everyone is out there looking for something...they are just trying to get affirmation they have the right thing.

Yes its as though they think by pointing out our sins we will forget all about theirs.
Where I live we have a large amount of people from The Potters House church they use to stand down the main-street and try to accost people and call them heathens which I found quite ironical because most of the were ex junkies, wife bashers and alcoholics that just swapped one crutch for another.

Yes. They have just discovered what they believe to be the ultimate truth, and they are eager to share that truth with others. It can be a beautiful thing. Of course, for some it never wears off, for example Christianity and Islam being the world's largest religions.

Like Georgie Bush? Bush found religion as a way of hiding his feelings of worthlessness and scum sucking. To enhance his new found feeling of belonging, he projected his worthlessness on everyone else. Hence, his disgusting holier-than-thou way of behaving.

It could be, possibility from a "I believe in this thing, I do not want to look stupid, therefore I want others to believe it as well" thing.
Some think they are given a "mission" to earn brownies points, some felt they are the chosen one ..... but all in all they are just brainwashed.

Hence the word Zealot. Yes they are. I guess the excitement makes them want to share with everyone what they have found.
