When you sleep, your metabolism slows down and goes into a resting mode until you wake up. That is why its bad to eat too close to bed time, you body wont burn as much of the calories because soon after you eat, you are sleeping and you metabolism slows down. this gives all the food you ate and chance to be stored as fat instead of burned as energy. Water has NO CALORIES. You cannot gain weight from water. Not possible. Drinking water helps with cell repair, which keeps you healthy, young looking, and beautiful. It also keeps all of your body working at its best. you need water all day long to do the most for yourself. Drinking water does help your complexion and many ailments. But please do not take anymore advice from this person who told you that water could possibly make you fat. They obviously dont know anything about the subject and will give you bad info. Drinking water at anytime, even during the night is great for you.

PS: Water retention isnt from drinking too much water, its from consuming too much sodium which dehydrates your body, so when you drink water the next time your body holds on to all of it (water retention) to help heal its self. Ironically, the more H2O you drink when you are retaining water, the faster your body lets go of it because it no longer sees the need to store water since it is getting plenty.

Water contains ZERO calories, so it won't make you fat.

It hydrates and detoxifies your body. It also moisturises your skin.

However, too much water before bedtime will have these disadvantages:

1. Your sleep will be interrupted as you'll have to wake up to make frequent trips to the toilet. The wake up and then go-back to sleep cycle will affect the quality of your sleep.

2. Too much water could cause puffy eyes in the morning if your blood circulation's poor.

water is the best thing to drink, before bed or not. It is great for your skin, helps you lose weight, keeps you hydrated and is not going to make you fat.Besides, at some point in the middle of the night you'll get up to the loo anyway..... eating too much however will do the trick to get fat..... ;).

There are no harmful effects from drinking water at anytime of the day or night, we need water and it helps to flush the toxins out of our system via the kidneys.

I believe some older women can be affected by water retention problems, giving them the aspect of a fat stomach but I would suggest you consult your doctor on that aspect just to be sure.
