No. There's several over-the-counter brands. They're located in the band-aid aisle at the store.

No you can get really good antibacterial ointments over the counter. In fact.... I don't really know of any doctors that actually prescribe them anymore. Neosporin is the most common. The Generic is just as good. FDA guidelines state that they both have to have the same or very close to the same antibacterial strengths. I'm not sure on the laws about this but its what my college professor told me.

If it is a S4 drug / prescription only medication then yes you do. Any antibiotic cream you can buy over the counter will be very weak.

there are over the counter antibiotic ointments, however if you need something stronger you have to get a prescription.

hi frost, no you don't need a 'script for that. i use neosporin plus myself and it works fine. i hope this helped! :)
