The dash board tachometer gets signals from the ecm the ecm turns on off signal to sine wave to run the tach and digital on off to run the automatic speed control , "Cruise Control" That signal originates from 4 slots digital in the distributor or camshaft position sensor. And 365 slots on a plate that turns thru a photocell and a LED infer red light. Those on off signals are responsible for injection spark and dash board. Now what do you replace first? If the tach speed is not a multiplication of engine speed and is some what erratic replace the tachometer. Or if the tact is twice as fast or 3 times as fast I would break out the digital multimeter and try to find the signal source and wire touching something wrong.

at the start, discover, do away with, and clean your IDLE AIR administration VALVE. I continuously recommend utilising Amsoil Foaming cleanser and Gum-out for this activity. you may run those chemical substances via a working engine and do away with undesirable deposits from O2 sensors and converters. you're on the main appropriate music via cleansing your throttle physique, merely bypass slightly deeper. you may reset the computers on maximum Nissan products via turning the key on and stale 5-6 cases, waiting 5 seconds in between. good luck!!

It is a tachometer. if it is a aftermarket one it is most likey and one of the 3 wires green (coil), red (power), and black (ground) which are loose and gettting a minimal connection. it if is a stock tach then good luck tracing the wires.

and no it is not a clogged cat, there is no way it is a clogged cat.
