Could those who wrote that scholars have discredited this documentary provide references?

I do not think that a satisfactory answer can be provided (to the why part) without considering how much it is reasonable to trust the scientists in the documentary and those that refuted them outside the documentary. Personally, I feel we should be careful with scientists that have an allegiance to either Christianity or to an opposite faith. I find it very difficult to take position.

I think they found a tomb, but they did not find Biblical Jesus's bones. The tomb was not a hidden one so it was not secret. In the early days of Christianity pretty much all sects wanted it crushed, Jews, Muslims and pagans. If they had access to Jesus's bones that would have used them to discredit the new testament. Also there was huge conjecture and it was obvious that the director was trying to discredit the resurrection. The flaws in that documentary were numerous, such as the DNA test was a no lose because if he wasn't related then it was Mary of Magdalen, if he was then it was Mary his sister. Pretty much all notable scholars have discredited that film.

I don't think anyone can prove one way or the other if that is or isn't Jesus tomb.
I don't see how it would take anything away from the significance of Jesus to say he is buried in a tomb. I thought the teachings were the important thing, not whether such and such a miracle happened or not.

I watched this show when it was on. I thought it was rather interesting. The evidence the presenter brought forth was very compelling....but he also made alot of stretches to prove points...
It was more of a "if this is true, then this is true, and if that is true then this must be the lost tomb of Jesus".
It was alot like "The Da Vinci Code". Whether you loved it or hated it, you couldn't stop talking about it. And talking about it helps bring debate, research, etc. It seems to me that was all he really wanted by presenting this show.....getting people to think.

Do I believe in the documentary? The documentary exists, so, yes, I believe in it.
If you mean do I believe that the documentary was correct in showing the lost tomb of Jesus, no.

The disciples told Jesus that there's a man in a nearby city who is claiming to be Jesus Christ.
That's a detail that they had overlooked. Could that tomb actually be that imposter's. It is possible that the man who was impersonated Jesus could had led his life to be as identical to Jesus as possible.
So, whose tomb did they actually find?

I can't believe this debate is still going on.Most of the experts interviewed for the film have now criticised the theory that it was the tomb of Jesus, along with a multitude of others.

It has been debunked not only by Christian scholars by Israeli archeologist. Jesus, Mary and Joseph were not uncommon names.
