It sparked up Lennon's Stream of consciousness lyrics that were already latent in him but provoked a response in him like "Tomorrow Never Knows"..it is a stream of words and music that mesh together..it appealled to his sense of the surreal and beyond..

Well, it's a great and unique song. The lyrics and the way Dylan delivers them are like nothing else (certainly nothing else in 1966). I agree 100% with Lennon.

Because Dylan's song is written in a surrealistic, abstract style with realistic images. "Don't follow leaders, watch the parking meters," combines surrealism, abstractism, and realism. So the song works on may levels. If you take it literally, it means nothing. Also my favorite "Look out kid, it's somethin' you did. God knows when, but you're doin' it again ... Look out Kid, You're going to get hit. By losers, cheaters, six time users ...And let's not forget "You don't need a weather man. To know which way the wind blows "

Poor John - he seems to get more irrelevant with time! I can barely stand to hear his blathering on those old videos and interviews. To say the least, Lennon was misdirected on most of the things he said and did. But, his songwriting and performing with the Beatles secures his place in immortality.
