Sounds like the program is corrupt uninstall then reinstall MS office this should sort it out, if not something else is interfering with it, you could try a good restore point first as this can work well when programs get corrupted.
Good luck

1] Find a system restore point before this started happening.
2] No luck? Reinstall/Repair via your MS Office CD

I think you have a MACRO Virus or procedure to restart or crash your system.
Update your antivirus software and Check your system.
Still have the problem?
Re-Install just MS-Word using the Office installation CD, you can uninstall then reinstall, or you can Repair the current installation.
regards,
:)

Sounds like a virus of some sort. Uninstall it and insert the CD and reinstall it again.

Probably the file "NORMAL.DOT" has been corrupted. It can be deleted and will re-create when you re-start word. If you have any settings they may have to be re-done.
