We've been out of a romantic relationship for a few years, but we've remained friends. I've been in a happy "new" romantic relationship for a couple of years. Although I've considered it, I just think it's crazy because I know him too well, and I'd be honest about his misgivings that I think a "new" girlfriend should know. What do you think?

He is out of line for asking you that.

In other words, you would not give him a good reference? Just because it didn't work out for you, is no reason to assume that it wouldn't work out for someone else--or do you still harbor some animosity?

It seems as if you rub his nose into the fact that you've been in a happy "new" romantic relationship for a couple of years. Probably makes him feel like chopper liver.

To find him a new girlfriend would be an endearing thing to do, but not for you.

i think the only reason u would care is if u actually STILL care about the guy, otherwise u should help him out as a friend and let the future girl see for herself his misgivings; which, by the way, maybe to u and not to her. those things are subjective.

u should help her see his positives and let him know his negatives so that he may work on it to prevent history from repeating itself. and if u'r happy in u'r new relationship u should let him have the save, fair chance with his as well.

If you feel comfortable helping him with this and want to then go ahead. If you don't want to tell the girls about his bad qualities maybe you can find some that have similar qualities or wouldn't mind his negatives. If you aren't sure what she thinks about a certain quality he has that you're concerned about you can bring up the negatives jokingly in a hypothetical situation and see how she reacts. Good luck!

I think he is asking you to help him so that he can get back together with you again.....even if you guys are buddies now,...just not a normal thing for a guy to ask a "x". He still has something for you and this is his way of getting you back (...and maybe not consciously or as an intentional plan...)

Actually, it doesn't sound that crazy. You two have transitioned to friends, and you are clearly no longer interested in him romantically.

If you've got a friend or acquaintance that you believe would be a good match, go ahead and set them up. Do your male friend a favor.

Maybe give him some pointers, but it's strange for him to actively help look for a girlfriend. What would your current boyfriend think?

Its crap he wants your judgement then at the same time he wants you to be jealous. Men are weird when it comes to relationships.
