Honestly it all depends on the angler what they want to catch and their level of experience. Honestly I grew up on a freshwater lake in Indiana and I grew up fishing on Lake Michigan. I now live in the Florida Keys and I would not trade it for anything. I fish in my front yard everyday catching barracuda, snapper, pinfish, parrot fish etc. The fish bite faster and more frequently here then they do in freshwater. The fish are more edible and less polluted than in freshwater and it beats paying for them. Face it all the good fish you can eat that you order in restaurants and you buy in the store all come from saltwater (except salmon of course) Cobia, hogfish, yellow tails, albacore, grouper, mahi, tilapia, are just some of the best eating fish available. And for sport you have marlin, sailfish, shark, tarpon, Wahoo, permit, bonefish etc. there is no comparison in my opinion saltwater is the only way to go. There is just so much more variety and excitement involved in saltwater fishing.

It depends on what you value. Freshwater fishing is more accessible as freshwater habitats are more accessible. Fresh water fishing is easier, as the fish typically have a limited range, banks of rivers, banks of lakes and ponds. It is typically cheaper as the equipment is less expensive, and the fish are typically smaller and not as dangerous. Saltwater fishing is the opposite of those things. I like both. I am fortunate to live near the Gulf of Mexico and many freshwater systems. I prefer the bigger fish, the tastier fish, and even the more dangerous fish found in salt water fishing. Do a little research and find out what you value most and pursue that. Tight Lines, Skip

Um... fresh water fishing is only more accessable if fresh water is more accessable to you than salt water. Where I live, I've got just about 156 miles of accessable shoreline for the Indian River Lagoon, one of the most productive brackish estuary systems in the country, and a good deal of it (at least up here on my end) is undeveloped... you can wadefish nearly all the way out the the channel in some places, so, yeah, it's pretty accessable. It's what I'm used to fishing. Fresh water requires a bit more of a trek for me, but I still like it too...

There is no "better" in fishing, there is merely preference, I know bass fishermen who won't go near salt water, and I know people who fish salt who won't go near fresh. I like fishing. I don't care how saline the water is.

NO WAY!

Fresh water fishing can be exciting sometimes, but if you don't have patience it can suck! Saltwater fishing is by far way better. Have you ever tried fishing for sharks or sting-rays? Whoah! It's really fun. And then you can go fish for ling-cod, or rock-cod. Even though stripers and salmon are both fresh and saltwater fish, I would rather go fishing for them in saltwater.

I have fished both fresh and salt water but by far salt water fishing is the better of the 2. I just love the idea of being at sea plus the fact that salt water fishes are bigger and they fight better.
