For the soul there is neither birth nor death at any time. He has not come into being, does not come into being, and will not come into being. He is unborn, eternal, ever-existing and primeval. He is not slain when the body is slain.
: how can a person who knows that the soul is indestructible, eternal, unborn and immutable kill anyone or cause anyone to kill?
: As a person puts on new garments, giving up old ones, the soul similarly accepts new material bodies, giving up the old and useless ones.
: The soul can never be cut to pieces by any weapon, nor burned by fire, nor moistened by water, nor withered by the wind.
: This individual soul is unbreakable and insoluble, and can be neither burned nor dried. He is everlasting, present everywhere, unchangeable, immovable and eternally the same.
: It is said that the soul is invisible, inconceivable and immutable. Knowing this, you should not grieve for the body.

One who has taken his birth is sure to die, and after death one is sure to take birth again. Therefore, in the unavoidable discharge of your duty, you should not lament.

All created beings are unmanifest in their beginning, manifest in their interim state, and unmanifest again when annihilated. So what need is there for lamentation?

Some look on the soul as amazing, some describe him as amazing, and some hear of him as amazing, while others, even after hearing about him, cannot understand him at all.

I agree with each word which is mentioned in the Bhagvadgita since they are directly spoken by God Krishna. So who needs verification ? These words are not said by famous philosophers etc.
Let the thinkers etc have their own views but nothing can change the truth. The universe is not created by them nor they are aware of the entire earth forget universe. They are just a fraction on this earth.
Intelligent persons love to boast their knowledge and act they are more supreme than God . Intelligence can be misused by shrewd intelligent persons and they show by challenging the forces of nature or by words.
Iam sure that in their hearts they know what they are and where they stand.
Since you had along with your questions given the stanzas from Bhagvadgita then Iam sure you know the fact.

That sounds all nice and holy, but mathematically the souls just do not add up. What number of souls are available for participation in reincarnation?

Are souls constantly being created, or is there a set number?

Currently there is like 6,600,000,000 (6.6 billion) people in the world. Therefore there would have to be at least 6.6 billion souls available simultaneously.

If all these souls always existed, what were the vast majority doing in say 1 AD when the population of the earth was something like 150 to 300 million people. 95% of the souls would have been hanging around doing nothing? What about when there were only like 1 million people on earth. 99.9% of all souls doing nothing?

What if the earth's population continues to grow? There could be like 8 billion people on the earth in 2020. That means there would have to be another 1.4 billion souls available to exist simultaneously. Has there been like 8 billion souls waiting around to participate in reincarnation since the beginning? If the population increases to 10 billion ...

Complicating this matter, don't some also believe that reincarnation involves animals as well? Just what number of souls are involved? I would just like to see some numbers.

In this regard, we can continue speaking on many views. It can be one's faith or what his ideas are. But, no one can believe unless one attains some pure consciousness. It is said that soul has no birth or death. But still it increases in the sense, it is not the real increse: like in the drama all the characters come to the stage at the last minute, more souls are coming to play their role may be... (This is what the answer I heard from one of the Brahmakumari's).

A person killing the other person or hurting the other has its own role. You can consider it one of the duties of the soul. Every action has its own inner meaning in that. Even God Shiva is said to be a destroyer in the sense, it is his role. It is good that you think differently. Keep thinking to get more insights. Try to take up things as they are and it is better for us not to analyse anything...(from my experience!)

Thanks universeismyhome, your words are absolutely correct.

something spoke by Hari needs no proof or explanation of any kind.

>> One who has taken his birth is sure to die, and after death
>> one is sure to take birth again?

depends on the condition of the soul, A completely self realized soul, knowing what it is and where it belongs, Need not be born again. It returns home.

otherwise, its definite to be born again, and where it is born and under what conditions is dictated by its own cumulative actions , for which it has to suffer reactions. good or bad.

A progressive soul, on its good actions, reaches higher and higher forms of life, The highest form reachable being the position of Brahma or inhabitants of the golden planet ( Brahma's abode, is a celestial object which looks golden in color, hence the name).

and even in such great position it may engage in self realization and get free, else again do negative actions, and deteriorate.

But it is known form the reveal scriptures that once the soul is touched by forms of hari, It dos\es not accept anything less than liberation, not even the post of Brahma, being highest in the material manifest ( that of the creator )

I suggest that you study the creation theory and master the energy conversions and transformations done by source Hari during the material manifest , and the basic Breathing process of the universe itself.

Hope i have given some insight about the journey we are in, With my limited knowledge.

remember, great civilizations like Atlantis have failed and ended ( not just a great person ) due to greed and power and the power gained was not able to sustain them. don't live in illusions, as we may end anytime. get away form them at once start in realizing and understanding who you are ( "Ahato Brahmajignyasa" - Urge to know the supreme ) .

thats why people who donot grieve for the body are called sadhus or rishis. they know the truth and they have realized that the world is materialistic. If a ordinary human realizes and follows this he becomes a mahan. CAN EVERYBODY BE A MAHAN? NO not every body can be.........

The statements are absolutely true. They refer to something that exists within our body which is indestructible while alive and even after that.
