It is illegal for 2 or more persons to share a seatbelt. Period! The maximum legal occupancy of any motor vehicle is one person per seatbelt. That includes adults, children and infants.

If the vehicle is full up with adults you CANNOT bring the baby with you unless you kick out one of the adults.

Putting a baby under the seatbelt of an adult can cause serious in jury to the infant even without an accident. The child could be crushed merely in a panic stop. In an accident, the child would be crushed between the adult and the belt, most likely with a fatal outcome.

In a 30 MPH crash a typical adult briefly exerts a force of nearly a tonne against the belt. Imagine placing a one tonne weight on top of an infant.

AND SUFFER FATAL INJURIES

NEVER put a child under the same belt as another passenger. In an accident or even a sudden stop, they'll be seriously injured or worse.
