I don't want to say yes because is cruel. I'm Catholic but I think those people are just misinformed and they've been brainwashed by their parents who were also victims of bad information. Is ignorance. Anti-Catholicism is the new Anti-Semitism, is accepted and many think there is nothing wrong with it. Who knows? Maybe they'll land in purgatory and they'll finally know we weren't lying.

If they know they are lying...yes. But I think that so many of them do not really understand.

Scott Hahn was a Evangelical Presbyterian Minister. He set out to "save" Catholics from hell. He was under the impression that Catholics were in danger...worshiping Mary and idols and all. As he researched the Bible, learned the ancient languages of the Bible, read anti-Catholic and Catholic theologians...he came to the startling realization that Catholicism was right. He is now a very prominent and respected Catholic theologian. http://www.chnetwork.org/scotthconv.htm

My daughter is dating a non-denominational young man. He does not understand Catholicism and is being schooled by his minister in the very literal translation of "some" scriptures. He also does not agree that divine tradition has any authority. So when you are dealing with people who are sure they are right about those things...they are also sure that Catholicism is wrong.

All we can do is pray for them, KNOW our faith and live it.

i doubt there is any special place or anything special about hell. some people, sad as it is, fall into the trap of anti-catholicism, when they begin to spread the lies they sometimes genuinely see it as doing the right thing, spreading the truth and even enlightening the church that gave us all the truth. as always only god can know the outcome to this answer and i pray i am on his good side when it happens. god bless.

I wish it were all lies- an no your condemnation and cursing of others will not damn those who now see the truth.

Having been born to a family that has Catholic connections for over 14 centuries, including martyrs, bishops, priests, missionaries, nuns and deep roots with the Vatican, like you I considered any person who attacked the church an agent of evil.

I have never met an evil priest. The Catholic Church has never done anything to be personally. In fact, my fondest memories are of people of great intelligence, devotion and care in the church.

But none of this can excuse 20 centuries of evil and over 400 million people murdered by the Popes and the Catholic Church:

I wish there was a way of explaining it away. But every time I hear a Catholic person trying to do so, it only makes it sound even more evil- as they attack the dead and the incontravertable proof of evil deeds.

Meg, I believe a lot of these people really believe the things they tell. Often times they get bad information from poorly catechised Catholics or ex Catholics.

Pastor Billy says: my human intellect says yes as slander is a grave sin but we must pray for them because some of them "know not what they do". If we hope to imitate Jesus we must love our enemies, pray for them and hope they turn to God and accept his will which calls everyman to turn to him and his Church.

As Catholicism is the prefigurement of the kingdom to come, to say one accepts Jesus would and should naturally guide followers of Christ into the Catholic Church.

Their is nothing special about hell, let Him the one who holds the key to Heaven & Hell Judge. Forgive and move on or it will eat you alive.

Anti-Catholics will do anything to distort the truth. They should at least pass through purgatory so they will finally accept it.

Peace and every blessing!

I don't know, but it would certainly be in keeping with the Catholic modus operandi. You've got hell, heaven, limbo, purgatory, Hog Heaven, Hell for Leather, and on and on. I bet you could fast talk St. Peter into letting you into Valhalla on weekends, honestly.

I mean seriously, Benedict had to pull a 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' and retcon a lot of the details of the universal and infallible. Whoopsie.
