We are booking the banquet hall pretty soon, actually its an old mansion turned into a hall...the estimate they gave us is 20,000. That includes, food, alcohol, the rentals, the hall, servers, decorations. Is this to much? 100 people attending

The Average US Wedding in 2006 for 150 guests was 26000 not including honeymoon. For 100 guests, 20,000 may very well be a reasonable number.

However, there is absolutely no reason why you need to spend the value of a new car on a wedding, if you do not have the money.

My fiance and I are putting a wedding together for 10,000, including honeymoon. We've called in some favors from friends (DJ at half cost through a friend, fire hall at half cost through a friend who is a firefighter, photography at no cost except cost of pictures because my fiance is a photographer with friends in the industry, District Justice traveling to our wedding location and doing service for free because he knows my family) but for the most part, we have just made smart choices. My gown cost 100 at David's Bridal because I kept an eye on their sales, and I found one that fit me off of the rack. I'm making my own centerpieces and decorations. I got my flowers (beautiful silk arrangements) from a professional florist on Ebay...she did a great job. Flowers were $200 for everything..

So, yes, you can spend 20,000 but you do not need to. If you have the money to spend, or you have rich relatives who are paying for it, go for it...but if that is not an option, set a reasonable budget and stick to it. There is no reason to start your new relationship by throwing yourselves into debt.

It's hard to say. The location sounds really nice, and obviously that's a huge part of the price. However, I got a gorgeous reception site on the river, with food, rentals, servers, etc, all came to a few thousand under your estimate. Decorations, although included with mine wern't what I was looking for as well, so I've arranged for my own. Look into that too. You're still going to have to worry about flowers, cake if you're having one, officiant, transportation, etc. There are still lots of other costs but yes this is the big one. Give it some thought, look around. :)

That sounds a little expensive, but it depends on your area. When I planned mine I think I was getting prices anywhere for $75 to $150 per person for about 100 guests. Also I remember that did not include require tips or tax. I ended up paying about $100 per person before tax and tips. This was 3 years ago in June. This did not include florist. I think I needed to pay about $75 per table for the floral arrangements. Also it was an afternoon wedding, I think that is usually cheaper by about $20 per person.

It hard to say if $200 a person is a lot, depends what the place looks like and how the service is.

holy shyt. My hall with food, alcohol, soda, decorations, is only $1200

There's no way I'd spend $20,000 on a dinner, I could pay a portion of my house with that or buy a brand new Dodge ram pick up truck, or buy a new boat.......... yeah right like I'd pay that for a dinner.

and I have 100 guests, But I guess it depends where you live, and where you want your dinner to be.
If its a mansion, then I hope it includes rooms to sleep? I dont know why it would be that much. I guess Im just cheap! lol

Sounds good to me, where I'm from that's the going rate. it's a plus that the decorations are included, you'll save money on centerpieces that way too.

Sounds about right, but I won't be surprised if it costed you a little more than that. Say another $5,000. That would be for flowers for the ceremony, invitations (stationary), stuff like that.

You seem on track.

I thought that having a backyard wedding would save $$$, but it is costing me about the same as you AND having someone do ALL the planning, organizing, decorating is frickin priceless. It is almost a full time job organizing a beautiful wedding for yourself. Don't forget the dress though!

That does seem to be a little high at
20,000 equals out to 200 per person
just shop around You can do better
than that, ask your married friends.

Yes it is too much. You can find a nice restaurant that has a meeting room ..have a fine meal and do it for about 6,000. Look around. Get prices... I am sure you could put the extra 14 thousand to good use. Good Luck

if you think that is a little hi in cost, try pricing all that seperatly and see what you come up with...... of course that price also includes, or should the cleaning and serving... which it will save YOU from having to worry about all that by having to hire or find ppl to volunter to do it....... a wedding can cost from 25 to 150 per person attending....... or more....... God bless

That may be okay by some standards, but my wedding, about as large, cost less than $1,000. The ceremony and the party were held at a church.
