Seriously, how cool is that having to help out our soldiers over seas. It would be an honor of helping out the soldiers over Iraq, but just helping them out means to them a lot and we care about em, even if its an unpopular war at home. Sure, its risky but its a way to pay back, and elso great experience.

I was just wondering, If there is a volunteer spot in the Army as in any position for a 15year old not being a soldier but being in the team of the U.S. by just helping them overseas or anywhere by just volunteering in the summer?

No! And its not cool to be there at any age. Soldiers are fighting and dying there. Its real life not the movies. Keep your tail out home until you are old enough to make such decisions

It would be awesome to be able to work with the men and women giving everything for our freedoms we enjoy. I applaud you for your thoughtfulness to those that are risking it all, and even more for your knowledge of the risks involved. The previous comments imply that you don't, but anyone who wants to go over to be a nurse, or a messenger or SOMETHING, probably knows what could happen to himself.

To answer the question, before I give some extra, there are no positions available for someone under the age of 16. Im sorry. I really wish you could serve in some way....IN IRAQ. However, there are probably alot of ways you can HELP the military...through general support in these settings, through public motivation of your classmates and friends. Writting letters to soldiers from your hometown, or area. Writting letters to the politicians urging them that even though you might be 15, you are three years away from making their life that much more difficult. Join groups and get to know more about this subject and incite more people to worry about what THEY can do as a patriot of this country and its defenders.

Second of all, these people with their nonsense of you not knowing what you are doing....ignore their petty words. They live in a small and dark place that can't understand the truth that from the mouth of babes come absolute truth. You are by no means a babe though. You have experienced hardships already, faced pain in its many forms, and have developed an understanding, when most of your life spent in understanding was one of wartime enviornment. Maybe your father has died in that war, and that is what spurs you. Maybe a brother or uncle has served and you feel the need to do your own part. Whatever the reason, I believe you DO know what you are doing, and as before I applaud.

To close, Thank you...it is very uplifting to see someone young realise that there is much more to life then the games you play, the girls you date, and the car you drive.

First off let me say that your idea, shows just how patriotic you are, which is so rare in young people today.

That said I think that you should listen to some of the other comments that are posted. You would in reality be more of a hindrance then a help in Iraq, no offense. The medics, and corpsmen stationed there are the BEST in the USA.

I am sure your Local VA hospital would be more then happy to have a young person such as yourself to help care for our Vets. If there is no local VA hospital Consider Volunteering at your Local Civilian Hospital or a Nursing Home. There are a million ways you can help.

Thank you for Caring about our Troops Best of luck in the future.

that has to be the DUMBEST thing I have ever heard.

It's a bloody war zone, CHILD.

You want to volunteer, that's great, I admire you for that, but be realistic.

look to the local VFW or American Legion, or your local VA hospital, you can see about volunteer opportunties there. or the American red Cross. get the misconception about honor and glory right out of your head. people DIE every day over there, do you hoemnstlythink that one, your parents wouldlet you? that two, the government would let you, and three, that you could honestly be of any use?! puhleeze. the first time an IED goes off in your vicinity, you willbe a blubbering pile of goo on the floor sucking your thuimb.

Absolutely not. I think most of the soldiers would agree that it wouldn't be a particularly great experience, nor would they want you to put yourself in harm's way regardless of how sincere your wish to help them might be. But there are lots of more practical opportunities to volunteer and show support to the soldiers - for example, perhaps there is a veteran's hospital or facility in your area that you can spend some time at. You can also write letters to the troops or work with a local club that might organize sending some donated items that could be useful to them.

The Army takes volunteers, but you have to be 18 (and can sign at 17 with parental signature).

Oh, yeah, you have to sign a contract too. Once you volunteer, the Army owns you. You become government property.

The best thing you can do now is study hard, and take classes as soon as you can in nursing or whatever. Volunteer at your local hospital...I believe you could do that. Get experience in the civilian sector, and when you are old enough, you can sign on to the Army.

We are going to be in Iraq for a very long time.

As 'cool' as it may seem--you will not go there. ---Or any other child under the age of 18.

The Armed Forces IS an all-volunteer force to begin with--but I get what you mean. ;)

Want to volunteer and do some good? Seriously. Contact your local Veteran's Hospital or Veteran's Home. We have TONS of Veteran's from multiple wars and other conflicts that could use some serious human contact---especially from the younger folks. ;) They're from all generations---you'd be amazed at what you can learn from them as well.

Good luck hon.

It is very honorable of you to want to do this, but no, they would never let you do that. when you finish high school and you are of age as a adult, then you can join. If your interested in being a medic, that is the courses you need to take. You will probably make a excellent medic.
